I'm sure this is extremely simple, but I've had a hard time finding a clear answer. I'm very new to fmbc--just installed it for the first time a few days ago.

I found directions for how to install apps (the elf files) on my usb drive when I already have the elf files on the usb. I'm wondering how I can install those apps to the memory card itself so that when I boot the ps2, the apps are selectable from the fmbc menu even if I don't have my usb drive plugged in. For example, I have pgen installed to the usb drive, so when I boot the ps2 with the usb drive connected, pgen shows up on the menu. If the drive isn't plugged in, pgen is not on the menu after boot-up.

The tutorials I found on the fmbc site talk about how to install apps when you're installing fmbc altogether for the first time, but I'm missing the part about how to install them to the memory card after fmbc has been installed.

    Thanks.

First, use uLaunchElf (uLE) to copy and paste the files you want moved. Run uLe, go to File Browser, then mass (that's your usb), then find the files or folders you want to move, then press R1, and select copy. Then browse to your mc, find where you want to put them, press R1 and paste. You can put ELFs in your BOOT folder, or SYS-CONF or create a new folder called APPS or anything you want.

Next, run the fmcb configuation elf. It's pretty self explanitory. You'll have to browse to the elfs in your mc to select them and type the name you want to show up on fmcb. I haven't used this elf in a while so these instructions are a little vague, but you should be able to figure it out.

That should be all there is to do it. I'm assuming you have uLE and FMCB configurator, if you don't then you'll need a bit more instructions, so let us know.

There is a program called ELF Packer/Unpacker that will shrink the size of some elfs (without losing anything) and so save precious mc space. You don't have to use this, many elfs are already "packed", but it may save space.

Awesome, thanks! This makes sense. I'll try it out when I get in tonight.

I was able to rename it, and get it in the boot folder. But what do I need to do to get it to show on the ps2 main screen? It isn't there when I reboot, but the file is still there. And I just don't know how to use fmcbc. It doesn't do anything for me.

I didn't install Free MC Boot, someone else did it for me, but I am just trying to put a snes emulator on it.
Signatures tend to be over-rated. But that is what is fun about them.

if you want it on the OSDSYS then you need to run the FMCB configurator and add the file manually. files do not automatically show up just because they are coppied to the MC.
