Okay, I'm very new to this, so please have some patients here.

I downloaded the game Kingdom Hearts Final Mix for PS2, and I patched the ISO with the Memento disc patcher.

I received my Memor32 in the mail today, I formatted it in the ps2, installed the memento firmware 1.2e. I put the latest Ulaunch file on there; as well as the ESR 7a ELF file. When I tried to launch the game I had no such luck though, after the screen flashed a few colors (It took extra long on the purple screen, then went to a cyan colored one.) and then a black screen, where it did nothing else.

Out of curiosity, I opened the disc tray to see what would happen; and to my surprise, the game showed the usual "Disk tray is open, please reinsert disk." screen, when I close it with the game in the tray, it still does nothing, that screen just goes away.

So I think the game partially booted, but I'm not sure.

My PS2 version is v10 spch-50001 and I've also tried the following Memento firmware 1.1, and ESR 9a.

    Any suggestions?

Yes. Make proper backup and make sure burn quality is good. This game is compatible and should work just fine.

I'm using a Maxell Dvd-R, and the color boot order was Blue Red Magenta Cyan then black.

Well it's not that compatible as you think. He uses Memor just like me when i started. The problem is that the firmware 1.2e is buggy. It does not work correctly with booting patched backups that have a high toc. I experienced this by myself. FW 1.2e is good for starting homebrew but for booting patched backups you should use FW 1.1. I don't know the technics they used and if it's a good idea to mix memento FW with ESR i haven't tested this yet.

    I would suggest these options:

    1.) use FMCB with ESR

    2.) use Memento FW 1.1

For the best compatibility i would use the first option. Memento lacks in every case for compatibility.

btw.: To correct a myth: memento don't change the language to english in fact it changes the language to japanese. i found this strange bug when i booted genuine Silent Hill 2 Disc. This game is multilanguage and boots everytime in japanese.

It must be the disc. I've tried writing it at 8x speed, then 4x speed and now I'm trying at 2x speed. Has anyone else gotten Maxell dvd-r's to work?

Sorry for the double post, but I just noticed on imgburn, that it ASKS me to reinsert the disc after it burns... DO'H.

Anyways, It's verifying sectors or something, hopefully this means that it's making it work. (I really have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to this stuff.)

In the future, what speed to you recommend for burning discs? I'm on a Macbook 2.4ghz running Windows XP using a "Super Drive" which came IN the macbook, and the max DVD writing speed is 8x.

    EDIT****

    WAHOOOOOO! IT WORKS!!!!!

    ****DOUBLE EDIT*****

Nevermind... I got it to boot by switching the new disc in when it gave me the disc error, and it began to play the game there; I chose my options, and clicked New game, and then it froze, now the ps2 wont start the disc at all... :*(

ImgBurn is "verifying" it has burnt all the data correctly, its not going to make it work if it didnt work before..most people turn verify off as the best way to verify it is to just try it and it takes far to long to verify anything with ImgBurn,I personally burn my PS2 iso's @ 8X but thats just my preference for my burner, all burners are different and finding the best speed/quality is down to the user.

Keep the writing speed slow as possible if not certified midia.

Try 8xCertified Verbatim, if you can get it.
I tested a few "Slim"-Laptop-DVD-Burners, but it's been a while so I couldn't give you a better statement on this model.

Try to get Verbatim 8xCertified-Media, if you can get it, to test if the media-quality is good.
Try to burn it with 8x (the Cert-Speed).
Else try FujiFilm 1-8x with 4xSpeed (you can test 8x, if you wish).
    ...or FujiFilm 1-16x with 8x.

Try to test the C1&C2-error-Rate with "Nero CD/DVD-Speed".

    Hope it helps,...

Edit: Well,... You get it working. So you can try, what I've posted, but you mustn't...
    PS2 V7/DMS3 V2 (FW:2.4b7); Seagate Baracuda 200GB
    PS2 V7/CC1.0 (FW:34 hacked v2 BM:2.1.6); Maxtor DiamondMAX9 PLUS 160GB

    MAX/Datel 16MB with Boot-CD

Velius you should try the suggestions TnA made. if it still fails you should try with FMCB and ESR installed.
