thanks for replying lolwut. do you think you could show me a pic of the adapter you are talking about? i am still a bit confused. thanks:)
it has usb to:
IDE 3.5 [old Desktop & PS2 HD]
IDE 2.5 [LapTop HD]
Sata [new Desktop HD]
i dont use it for ps2 only thats why i need the rest of the connectors
but because mine is a combo (more then one ide connector for ide/sata) i cannt use it for stuff like usbextreme, but i dont need to since i have a network adapter in my fat ps2.
this is the one i showed you earlier:
it is plug & play and it has only usb to ide 3.5, which is what u need but the best thing about it is that it has a high chance to be compatible trough the ps2 usb connection, and if your asking yourself why is that important, its pretty simple!
1. u can run games which dont run on hdloader like "ATV QUAD POWER RACING 2" on usbadvance
2. u can format an old drive to fat32 connect it to your pc and copy homebrew elf soft and games, music and more and play them on your ps2
3. u can backup your mc with ease
will this work?
cant see why not.. make sure the jumpers are set to master ....
tough, i don't recommend purchasing a second hand hdd...
u cant possibly know if there are bad clusters and in a case something happens you have no warranty...
here pick one of them with a 3 year warranty, it will be more expensive but in the long run its the most safest investment!
the best way to play games of the hard drive is with a network adapter and hdloader. the compatability and speed are both alot better although there are a few games that will only play on USBadvance and not on hdloader. If you have a fat ps2 that's the way you ought to go. as for loading games on the hard drive you could use hdldumb on your laptop and use hdld_sevr on your ps2 to transfer games. I don't know if its as fast as using a usb connector to you laptop but its pretty quick and it doesn't involve disconnecting anything. I have a fat V9 and thats what I do.
I agree that using the HDD is the best way for about 98% of the games for the PS2. The 2% of the rest won't function at all with HDloader and a few of the 98% function better or perfectly (compared to trying them on HDD) when using ESR.
Ateilier Iris: Eternal Mana is one example where the voice-overs and sfxs would bugger out randomly on HDD. Although the game plays prefectly using burned media with ESR. Another example is Minority Report which freezes randomly on HDloader (for me) and when I use ESR, it runs nearly perfect in-game although the videos stutters when I choose an option but if I don't it freezes during loading. Not to forget that all of the .hack//*** first series games won't go into The World on HDLoader.
It's too bad we can have the ToxicOS's HDloader version which fixes some games... it'd be nice but impossible until someone figures out how to access and crack it. =\
some of us (myself included ^^;) run hdloader because the laser is dead ^^
Oh i know, i know. Just wish we could actually improve HDloader.. and I know the reasons why.. ah well. some day...
