Help installing FMCB on SCPH-70011 NTSC in europe
Help installing FMCB on SCPH-70011 NTSC in europe –
12-30-2010,05:56 AM
Hi,
I have scph-70011 ntsc version and my friend made a fmcb mem card for me but my ps2 doesn't recognise this as a boot device (normal boot occurs). The card works well in my friend's ps2.
How can I install the proper fmcb to my card on a different (European) version of ps2 ?
Please help!

According to my list that "11" is a region code for Mexico/Latin America.
Your console is probably compatible with both SCPH-xxx10 and SCPH-xxx11 units when it comes to FMCB binaries.

That is the normal result assuming that your friend's is not of the same region as yours.

European SCPH-xxx04 consoles are mutually compatible only with UK SCPH-xxx03 consoles when it comes to FMCB binaries.
You will need to either find someone with an xxx10 or xxx11 console to make the installation for your MC (assuming that person has some way to run homebrews), or else to make the installation yourself using one of the various methods described in the FMCB guide pages. (disc-swapping, Swap Magic, etc)
I'm not sure which game regions your console is compatible with (different region system than for FMCB).
Are you able to boot original game discs released for the US region (SLUS or SCUS prefix) ?
If so, then you should also be able to boot a US SwapMagic disc (whether bought or borrowed), and that should let you boot uLaunchELF (aka: uLE) from a USB drive. And with uLE running you should then be able to use its FileBrowser to launch the FMCB installer from the same USB drive, where you should also have stored the FMCB noobie package (or equivalent FMCB setup package).
That is how I would attempt to do it in your place, even if I had to send for the US SwapMagic disc from abroad.
NB: You will need "SwapMagic v3.6" or "SwapMagic v3.8 coder",
as I think older versions lacked the ability to boot ELF files from USB drives.

Dear dianor,
thank you for your reply! The unit works well with SLUS disks.
After I read some docs about FMCB and booting I tought swapmagic would be the solution
but here in europe not easy to find a ntsc swapmagic.
I'm trying to find one...
Best regards, csucsu

The SCPH-70011 is an exception to that rule. It's for North American territories outside of the USA (basically Canada) and shares the same DVDELF as the 70012 as far as I'm aware.
