having a problem with exploit... need help
having a problem with exploit... need help –
hi, I'm having SCPH-15000 jap console, AR MAX, and PS1 original discs...
First I created TITLE.DB with titleman, and BIDATA-SYSTEM.max consists of icon.sys, my.icn, TITLE.DB, BOOT.ELF(uLE v4.30) with ps2save builder v.0.8.
Next, I uncrushed BIDATA-SYSTEM.max to my formatted original Sony MC and rebooted with PS1 CD but it stucked at white screen.
I tried to switch BOOT.ELF with older one, use another ps1 cd, MC, changed slots.. but nothing better.
You might want to try Free MC boot.
Yes, I read FMCB guide again and again but couldn't boot the installer.
BTW, Do I need to move this thread to FreeVAST section?
Playstation 2 model SCPH-10000/15000 doesn't work like that, uLE/FMCB will never boot with independence exploit and so you can't install the last FMCB v1.8b just yet. This issue is not on the FMCB installation guides, I think, because is not every one that have this models or they really doesn't like us
This is how I did on my SCPH-10000, follow this instructions and download the necessary files:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/426051-post288.html (Support for other regions?)
After you get all working I will explain howto install the FMCB v1.8b on your console, you have to do some tricks first to get it working.
Put your questions here, don't send me PM unless necessary.
Please report the results.

got another problem –
thx for your reply.
I followed your instructions, but got another problem in step 5.
I used BOOT.zip and BIDATA-SYSTEM.zip files you attached, and the only thing I did was switching TITLE.DB to mine.
It seems everything is working great, but stucks at black screen saying LOADING...
Here I attach my files in pendrive.
This should normally works with 1.8b instead of the modified 1.4b...
1.8b have this external X modules support.
Doesn't hurt to try the 1.8b first, but I've never got the previous versions to work with the independence and also never tested the FMCB 1.8b like this.
yorichick, try this.
Grab the FMCB 1.8 and decompress, inside the INSTALL folder put the last uLE as BOOT.ELF.
Grab the xmodules and copy inside the MODULES folder.
Rename the decompressed FMCB folder to BIDATA-SYSTEM, insert the icons and all necessary files to make the independence work.
Rename FREE_MCBOOT.ELF to BOOT.ELF
Rebuild your max file and reupload to your MC, tell us if this works.
Doesn't work. I see a black screen and nothing happen.
I'm little confusing.
If I rename FMCB folder to BIDATA-SYSTEM, what about the other folders inside the FMCB. *.max can't contain folders such as INSTALL, MODULES, etc. Am I right?
Should I have two save files named BOOT and BIDATA-SYSTEM like you said before?
BTW, I think uLE should be working before installing FMCB.
What is the relationship between xmodule and uLE?
And what version of bios(SCPH-XXXXX) do i need to dump for xmodule?
I tried SCPH-10000, but I think I should have one of 30000 or newer.

Yep, it will not work, there is this folders problem.
Go back to the previous instructions, make sure your "XMCMAN, XMCSERV, XSIO2MAN, XPADMAN and DVDELF.BIN" are at the root of your pen drive or it will not work, because the modified FMCB will look for this files in the pen drive and not at the MC.
Try again and report to us.
Yes, save in to the memory card your BOOT with uLE inside named as BOOT.ELF and upload the BIDATA-SYSTEM with your title.db and the FMCB 1.4b installer inside as BOOT.ELF.
I also think that uLE should boot from independence exploit but it won't until you get the FMCB working, I've done many tests before.
The X modules has no relation with uLE, they are needed only to make FMCB work and install your files.
Normally any after SCPH-18000, but look like you already have the files.
That is the problem, 10K doesn't have the X modules, that is why many apps doesn't work with it and it is a bitch to make it work something on it.
But follow the instructions that soon your console will be running the last FMCB and working with ESR discs.
Oh, one very important thing!
Your pen drive has to be USB 1.0/1.1 compatible, there is a lot of Kingston pen drivers that are USB 2.0 only and this ones will not work with PS2.
