ugh, I was hoping to avoid reburning all my disc in order to run my new ps2 slim. So I got a FMCB and elf launcher on memory card ( Thanks to dangwoot! ) and cogswap/swap magic elf on usb drive. I booted into FMCB then launch cogswap/swap magic within elf launcher. The swap program itself launched fine; and I used either Kingdom Hearts/DDR super nova/madden 2007 to swap.
I never got the game to load, cuz all i got was black screen when i swap in backup disc......
has anyone got here got that to work?

Yes, I use cogswap and haven't had any problems. You may need to try discs with larger TOC. I don't know what you have available but for me, I've been successful using any of these titles: Devil May Cry, Def Jam NY, Destroy All Humans, Star Wars Battlefront, MGS3, and GTA: Vice City.

I dunno at this point, but based on what i've read on forum (forgot the source) FMCB + swap magic elf doesn't work. I tested this method last night it didn't work for me either; but i am not sure if it's the TOC problem or what.

As far as im aware, there was only 1 version of Cogswap ever made. Other variations might have been made under a different name, but i dont know if any have been.

Well I knew that I could boot SM 3.8 on the memor32 by using an original PS2 DVD disk in the drive.
Of course you need to have Swap Tool Pro V3-V4(or the older Magic keys), fliptop or slide tool.
This tutorial explains it for memor32

So tonight I tried it using fmcb 1.6
Configured my SM 3.8 elf to L2
Put in the Original GTA Vice City Stories
Started the PS2 holding L2, SM 3.8 starts
Swap the disk for your backup
Press Normal, Then choose your region

    It worked...Woohoo

that's very great news that SM3.8 works, because I can go across region with it. I just picked up a copy of DMC at gamestop tonight and wa la! my backups are working now!
my only problem now is that the senso block is a lil trouble some. The one cloest to vidoe out port doesn't like to stay down. I obviously don't wanna cloud that area with tissue paper on top of sensor because doing this might fuxx up the internal air flow. ugh, this is so much trouble but so much fun, i just love hacking things!

Cogswap works fine! You can use Zoneloader.elf for different regions. I use a piece of folded up straw to block the hidden sencor. Just put stick it through the hinge to push down the button. It can be tricky at times, It works great though, cuase you can remove it at anytime without opening your ps2.
