That's a negative on that. ECC Read needs to be off and no on the formatted option is what's needed.
Well it did work just fine, i had deleted everything on it just yesterday and it still worked the first time i tryied to flash it, but nothing was written to the card. It was after a second attempt to flash it is when it died.
Its no big deal to me, i got 7 other cards to play with and you know i can afford to just go buy more if i need to.
Im just curious as to what happened to it.
I'm curious on that as well. I guess that it was time for it to go though due to the age on it.
You may want to try flashing it with a clean image from the \Free OsDatel Boot MC V1.0 BETA (PAL NTSC_U)\Free OsDatel Boot MC - ID Patch\USA folder with the ECC off and see what happens. the old card still may have some life left.

Welp, so to note... I did what Kain said:

go here
http://lukasz.dk/2008/04/22/datel-memory-plus-64-mb/
download MPLUS-LOADER2.ELF(PAL) or MPLUS-LOADER2-NTSC.ELF(NTSC)
rename it RUNME1.ELF(it might be RUNME.ELF, just replace RUNME)
now download the ELF you want to boot when your ps2 turns on
rename that file EXECUTE1.ELF
replace RUNME.ELF with the new one above
put EXECUTE1.ELF in the SAME directory
reboot your ps2 and remove the USB stick and enjoy.
And it worked. So the problem might reside in the RUNME.ELF file.
I tried 3 pendrives to see if the problem was my pendrives and nops.. It's def. something with the runme.elf.
Something else that I noticed.. I launched uLaunchELF as execute1.elf and then tried to save the .cnf file. The PS2 crashed and then, the trick rended useless. I had to remade the whole thing.
Jimmy, good work!!!!!!!!
Worked both my v9 and v10 consoles.
As for one of my pirated mc, the dumper couldn't extract the id from the mc. Maybe this mc it's too fake and doesn't have an id at all?

Got My Sony 8MB card to work booting the FreeOs files from USB on my v9 NTSC. I will now try making it boot from MC and see if my 64MB Max card will work also.
Thanks to all who made this possible! Many dead PS2's wil rise from the ashes to a new life!

I can confirm 100% that the Original RUNME.ELF from MemPlus will only read from a FAT32 formatted USB stick. It wont recognise a FAT format at all.
Oh and remember, its a Datel product and its well known that many USB sticks are just not compatible with Datel software.

Im guessing it went at the time it was attempting to write the flash the first time i tried, since i did pull it out and put it back in quite a few time in the past couple of days. Im giving up on it and just trash it. On to the next card....lol
I think its just dead hardware, the MCFlasher loads the modules and immediately goes to the "do not remove MC or turn off console " .

My pendrive is formatted with FAT32.
As for your memorycard, are you SURE that it's a original one?
I'm having the same 'problem' with a fake mc. MCFlasher hangs in the same message.
The MC dumper couldn't extract the MC ID at all. But the memorycard works fine. So far the only game that crashed while writting to it was "Gawd of Waz 2" when booted from disc. From HDLoader, it saved fine without a crash. Maybe there's some usefull file from HDLoader so a mc id isn't required at all?

nice work it loads quicker than datels memplus so my mc thinks it's an 40mb cuss datels software and elf loader right is there going to be an cd/dvd loader patch cuss it won't load emulaters like fcultra for ps2 and hdloader sort of works
final fantasy XII will not load i tried it with both my new mc and memplus which i didn't need
i'm very much enjoying this!thank you for all who worked on this!!!!!!!!

did you know that it's just datels software and you can load ulaunch without the usb just get ulaunch to load the other way you did and copy it to the mc
but first look at this guide on how you do this
http://home.comcast.net/~jnabk/memoryplus64.html
datel you are screwed over big time
