Well, who would know, someone did it and the progress has been breath taking... Congratulations to you all, Jimmikaelkael in peticular, without you this wouldn't be possible.
Now, for some issues I've noticed: I'm a PAL-77004 (slim) + memor32 user;
- Free MC boot 1.4b installs ok if there isn't a DVDELF.bin file on the same path, if it does, it freezes on DVDELF.bin decrypt.
- After instalation it wouldn't run, pressing R1, or any other button... I've found out that the BOOT dir was empty, despite there was a BOOT.ELF on the instalation path, it was found and should be copied... I've used memor32 savemanager to copy my usual ELFS to it: Pang, USBadvance, ULE and ESR.
- ULE didn't load, pang loaded but freezed on "press start..." message, the others ran ok.
I just like to store all of my .elf files on my hdd to save space on my memory card. Would be nice to be able to configure the FMB .cnf file to look in the specified directory on the hdd.

(Think you don't need it, because you should have the same 75KB-DVDPLx/DVDELF in your ROM.)
-Yes, this is known.
-Try to configure your uLE-Config to DiscControl "off".
should it create another osd file other then osdmain.elf ??
i got a SCPH-70012 USA. tried to install without imbed. just put ule in BOOT\BOOT.ELF and it still wont work??
edit:nevermind had to change the cnf file. it was set to load OSDSYS. Fixed :)
Some good news afterall: I managed to get the 8MB card working again by flashing a 64MB image to it (because I didn't have a 8MB image). Then I used the formatter of FMCB 1.2b again but it didn't work (gave an error on the format process). Then SUPRISE :wow:: the PS2 browser asked me to reformat the card because it seemed to be an unformatted card. I did and it WORKED! You see: FMCB seems to be magic... Now I had an empty formatted 8MB card again :D.

Then I installed FMCB 1.4c on the card, but it only gave me the 'boot from MC' and 'boot from disc' options in the browser. It took me quit some time to be able boot with it. Finally I was able to remove the CNF file and make it boot from BOOT.ELF (Ule 4.12e+). I was glad it worked again, but because of this I didn't have time to test the other stuff. Well, maybe one of the coming days...
One thing was tested: If Memor32 is in slot 2 and FMCB in slot 1, then FMCB is launching Ule4.12e from the FMCB card. When I switch the cards, then Memor32 is booting an older Ule from Memor32 when holding R1.
Hope this clarifies some things for you, Peppers.
With Kind Regards, LaCoste1970.
As do I, but to enable the few of us with a HDD to be able to use it everyone else would have to put up with a larger, more bloated (thus wasting them space) FMCB. It's not a case of it just being able to look on the HDD - it needs the modules required to use the HDD. until 1.4b the slim FMCB loader didn't even have MASS access, although jimmi has managed to make it fit.

Same if you have a mem card with FMCB 1.2 in slot 2 - it takes priority over the FMCB1.4 card in slot1 - but it is loading the uLE4.16 from mem card 1.

Okay, from what i read in the threads regarding FMCB most of the problems come up immediately after installation or later.
Well, my problem is the installation itself.
i've DLed FMCB v 1.4b, put it on my USB stick (Kingston Data Traveller 1GB). Then i inserted it into USB slot in my PS2, lauched uLE from DEV mode, browsed to mass: and lauched FREE_MCBOOT.ELF. Pressed X for Install. Installer started, blinked for a moment a message 'checking MC' then went to 'Free MC Boot installer start!' and stopped. Nothing after it. No messages, just freeze. I left it for maybe 20 minutes but nothing changed. From what i can see there were no modifications done on the memory card (original Sony 8MB).
Tried multiple other combinations:
- with/without DVDELF.BIN file (from a pack attached to one of the posts with all versions of the file - i used DVDPLE.BIN)
- with/without BOOT.ELF (uLE 4.16)
- tried to start installer from MC, CD, DVD, HDD
- tried after Format MC command
- tried all of above with v 1.4 of FMCB
Nothing helped. Every time it just freezes on the 'Free MC Boot installer start!' message.
My console model is SCPH-50004 (v9?) PAL modded with Ripper 3 chip (Matrix clone with FW 1.21,at least that's what i think)
Second MC slot empty, second pad disconnected.
I think i'm missing something totally obvious here, but i just don't have any more ideas. Maybe one of other users could provide me with some help.
Thanks in advance.
I never had problems with 1.4 on my v9 Pal and 1.4b installs fine for me.
What about disabling your modchip if that's possible?
Edit: I always did the "normal" installation (without dvdelf.bin or embedding an .elf file).
If i disable my modchip i can't launch homebrews as i don't have exploit set up (never needed it).
