Free McBoot install on fat PS2 with Cogswap - Can I use a CD instead of a DVD?
I want to install Free McBoot on my 50004 phat PS2 using the method shown in this playlist called "how to softmod your fat ps2" by StevenSeagull0815. It's a 4 part tutorial on YouTube. My PS2 is not modded and I don't know anyone that has a modded PS2. Thing is, I got the DRE and my PS2 can only read CDs now. It can't read DVDs. So here's my question: Can I launch cogswap with the swap trick shown in the video (part 3 I think) on a PS2 50004 with a CD-R? I only have 1 original game that's on CD and that's Global Defence Force (PAL name, think it has a different name in the US) and it can fit on a 700mb cd-r.
Would it work? Would I be able to launch uLaunchElf and Free Mcboot using this method and install FMCB on my MC?
Assuming it would work, would I be able to launch games from a USB stick, and in the future from an HDD? I have an old WD IDE HDD that I don't use anymore, but I'd have to order a network adapter first.
Thanks in advance!
