    Hi all!

In the future, it is possible an update for Free MC Boot to work on systems SPCH-9xxxx? (SPCH-90001 more specifically).

    Thanks.

    Hi asd977,

From what I've read, Free MC Boot already works on some SCPH-9xxxx ps2 consoles.
Only models SCPH-9xxxx with Date Codes 8C (and after that) don't work, because they have a revised BIOS (v2.30).
I can't confirm this or take any responsability, but that is what I've read.

If your question is if it will ever work for those models... the answer is NO, don't expect that.
The "flaw" the Free MC Boot exploits was corrected after March 2008 (SCPH-9xxxx Date Codes 8C).
The development of the Free MC Boot has officially stoped too.

No one found any similar flaw since then, so don't expect that four years later.
You can use Swap Magic or Mod the ps2 with a Chip, that will work with those models.

    Regards

    almost correct.

only a very few consoles dated date code 8c will still work.

SONY removed the update from MC calls in the bios of these consoles so FMCB can never work with this bios. was not a flaw but a feature to update the osdsys and DVD player.......

and yes for these models a mod chip or swapmagic is required. if you get swapmagic you only need to use it at power on. it can be set to start uLE automatically from USB stick/HDD and then from there you can do everything anyone else can, ie OPL,ESR,SMS etc ...

okay, got some ps2 v18 (bios 2.30) SCPH-90001 with some friends, but even with modchip, they wanted very freemcboot installed on ps2 (due to ease of launching applicativos by OSD.

then I got together with Ule 4.42a (in automatic / misc_osdsys), do the hacked OSDSYS function normally.

this means that hacked OSDSYS works with bios 2.30.
but calls the MC does not direct the bios (which happens on the island where osdsys can not start)

the fact is that the kludge is working (and to my friends does not help explain the difference in what I did, but they liked it)

although this is a waste of time ....

its not that FMCB wont work it is that it cant start. if you have a modchip then of course you can use the dev modes to boot from the MC and create the osdsys changes and it will work as if FMCB did boot.

what we are saying is that on an UNMODDED console FMCB cant start after date code 8c because these consoles have bios 2.30

you can even install FMCB on your console . the important thing is that once you get uLE running then the world is at your feet... lol

asd977 What I would recommend to you: I know that everyone likes FMCB---because it is comfort for user to use it--turned on ps2 and all soft in one place. But for ps2 slim 9000 is best thing to my opinion is Modchip "Modbo 5.0".

Of course if you can find one---is the best idea.

Modbo 5.0 can behave almost in the same way as FMCB. It starts all you need at startup from usbpen-drive.

You can program it to start for example OPL or something else.

    Go to thia address:
http://wwwhttp://modbo50.com/ You will find a lot of interesting stuff.

I know, and that's why I said it was just to use the hacked osdsys (for friends) .... (it is logical to chip)

and was a doubt of mine, ever since everyone always talked about the corrupted bios startup freemcboot, but then in fact what happens is that the boot FMCB is not called during a normal boot.

YES, the bios does not look for updates therefore the FMCB package does not start. WITH a MODCHIP you can

    Hello everyone
I have a SCPH-90001 console that had a KHM model laser. I need to change it for a PWR, but first I need to update the console's drivers so it'll accept the new model laser. I usually did it with LENSCHANGER prog, launched from uLE. The uLE, I lauched it from a CD compiled by me, but in this case, the console's KHM laser is burnt (so it can't read the uLE disk) and it doesn't works with the PWR laser yet (cos of the old driver).

So the only way I can launch uLE on that console is using FreeMcBoot from a MC, isn't? I've tried it, it works properly on older consoles (SCPH 70001) but nor this new SCPH-90001 nor the SCPH-79001 I have doesn't see the FreeMcBoot on my memory card. All the 3 consoles are U/C NTSC region, so I guess that's not the problem. I saw in one of the comments that the new consoles can work with an older version of FreeMcBoot, is that right? If not, is there a possibilitie I can launch uLE without using a disk?

    Thank you!

by the way, I don't have the possibilitie to get a Modbo 5.0 modchip fast, all I have are some Matrix Infinity 1.99, a 64mb SONY MC and a Pen Drive.
