Hi - I searched the forums but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have an old PS2 SCPH-15000 that I bought when I was living in Japan. Recently, I was lucky enough to get one of the free installers to install the latest FMCB on my MC. I am a noob to all this so the help was much appreciated! However, in the installation process, my dvd driver was deleted and I lost the old utility disc years ago. As I understand it, this wouldn't be such a problem if FMCB works and I can start OPL. My real problem is that when I start PS2, I only get the regular browser screen - no FMCB. I can see the apps on the MC but I only have options to copy or delete them. Any help would be appreciated - otherwise it may be time to throw the thing into the recycle bin!

    Thanks a lot...

xXyunaXx: Thanks for the reply. My understanding is that the new FMCB is compatible with all PS2s including the 10000 and 15000 models...

dont mention it =) im here to help you out to the best of my abilities
so.. the new fmcb is compatible with the 10000 and 15000 models you say well then lets dig in a bit further and find out the source of your problems now excuse me as im not very experienced at problem solving for the ps2 but i will try to help you out as much as i possibly can

first of all "in the installation process, my dvd driver was deleted and I lost the old utility disc years ago."
would you tell me how this happened? i installed fcmb on my ps2 too its 34005 model but nothing got deleted and my dvd driver is still intact. so lets clear up this first^^

PS: i read up again on the official free mc boot compatibility list info and it said this:
    1.8

    Installer side :

    - New GUI, graphics & sounds by Berion.
    - Installation now possible on mc slot 1 & 2.
    - Fixed problem with chinese clone card (was generating wrong mcid).
    - Changed "PowerOff PS2" option into "Launch Free McBoot".
    - Better compatibility with early jap models.

it only says better compatibility, which can still mean that it wont be compatible at all with your model of ps2 and if this is the case which hopefully it is not then i cannot help you any further im sorry

That's ok. One of the members who offers to do free installs installed it on my MC and when it was returned to me, the dvd drivers were missing...

who did the install and did they have a jap region console to do it on?
FMCB has to be installed on a console with the same region.
so a USA install will not boot on a Jap console. . . .

Look here for information in installing FMCB for SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000:http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/%5B...15000-a-59958/ ([TUTORIAL] How to install FMCB on japanese models SCPH-10000 & SCPH-15000)

There is no hacked OSDSYS for the SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000.
You have to boot ELFs by using the quick launch triggers.

The lack of a DVD Player won't affect FMCB. My SCPH-10000 lacked the DVD Player installation disc when I got it, and the DVD Player was on a different memory card when I installed FMCB.

    Thanks all for the replies.

Spud42: I assume it was a J-console as I made it clear to the installer that that is the model I had. I don't want to say the installer's name without permission as he did me a nice favor - I had no means to install fmcb on my mc....I have been trying to contact this person since I got my mc back (about a week ago) but so far there has been no response.

Sp193: I had read that post previously. The problem for me is that it may involve putting other files on my mc - which I have no means to do. Also, I am not getting any fmcb splash screen - just a normal PS2 start. When you mention "quick triggers", I have tried holding start and at other times R1. Is there another method that I am missing?

XxyuyaXx : Thank you again for your helpfulness.

Possibly my log-in name is correct and I just don't get it!

you are very welcome gordon and btw if you are wondering why there is no splashscreen of fmcb/fmcb logo it is because Sp193 has already stated that on the jap models of the ps2 there is no hacked osdys(osdys=the main browser menu of the ps2) and so if this is the case then i am assuming that the fmcb logo/fmcb splashscreen only appears in the case that the hacked osdys is displayed instead of the regular ps2 osdys i hope this proves useful to you and dont give up! keep trying everything possible because in the end it must work out =) goodluck!!
