i have it
I currently have FMCB v1.8c installed with the usual apps (OPL, uLaunchElf, etc.). Would it be okay just to install v.1.92 over it? Would my cnf's be overwritten with the new install?
Also, in the instructions for installation it just says copy FMCBInstaller.elf and the lang folder. Is the install folder not required to be copied anymore?
To be safe, copy everything from the extracted archive to MASS ...
Also, you'll be asked to keep or overwrite existing CNFs during install so choose "No".
Everything in your OSD will be preserved, including the erroneous "FMCB 1.8c" version text at the top of the screen. :D
Rest assured, you'll be running 1.92 - SP193 merely forgot to update the version text string and will fix it if upon a more compelling reason for a 1.93 release ... ;)
I do have a small request for SP193. As he (and others here) know, the symbols, as seen on the hacked OSD, are at slightly different code points between the ROM OSD and the HDDOSD, such that those using FHDB without the HDDOSD are seeing wrong characters for the arrows, both the bouncing ones on the left and right of the selected option, as well as the ones in the "instructions" at the bottom that tell you to use up and down to scroll through the load. Would be a nice feature if the installer checked for the HDDOSD and chose between a ROM OSD variant of the CNF file (basically the default FREEMCB.CNF except saying Free HDBoot instead of Free McBoot) and the existing FREEHDB.CNF.
This is a very minor issue, however, but it does look a tiny bit unsightly on a fresh ROM OSD-based installation of FHDB.
UPDATE: Ah-hah!!! Deleted all CNFs manually, uninstalled FDHB, formatted MC1 clean, and then reinstalled 1.92 = "Free MCBoot [Version 1.92]" displayed on my OSD! :D
Now to rebuild the OSD the way I had it ... ;)
Ahh, okay. I stand corrected. :)Quote:
The issue you're referring to is if you go into the configurator and reset to default from within there, it will still say 1.8c.
Humm, well, Im experiencing issues with the "FASTBOOT = off" option of the FHDB configurator, seems to be broken. =/ With a CD/DVD in the tray, it always boots from it.
Can someone confirm that report?
As promised, here are my icons. Hope they are of use to someone, you may want to alter the lighting in icon.sys files as I favour quite garish colours sometimes! As I'm sure you all know this is done with PS2 Save Builder.
As I've already said, I'm not a pro graphic designer or anything like that, but I like to have a go and these represent my first forays into 3D model building.
The earliest two examples being the font file typewriter (I may redo this at some stage) and the jpeg icon, which I have recently upgraded.
And if all else fails, they really do look more pleasing to the eye than blue cubes!
More may follow, as I'm thinking of redoing the Free McBoot icon next.
Also attached if anyone's interested, is my recently finished uLE skin. You may need to reconfigure the CNF files to suit your setup (eg, I keep most items on the MC, but the Free McBoot page of the menu is linked to the USB Mass device) as this is geared toward my preferences, particularly in relation to the browser restarting if nothing is touched for 1 min at the home screen, and R3 being mapped to a secondary hacked version of uLE on the MC.
If anyone has any special requests for icons, give me a shout, I'll do my best - but please bear in mind I work full time, and this is a big community!
EDIT: I added a FreeMcBoot icn, I made it fairly quickly, but it worked out better than I thought.
Also, if interested, I made a new load icon for OPL.
If you wish to make it that the disc won't be automatically booted, you need to turn off fastbooting and enable the SkipDisc option.
