Did he? Where (can't seem to find it right now)? ^^

Those who already get it running on there MC have a correct MCID, but many bugs still occur in 1.7 (such as re-launching OSDSYS, if you try to start an ELF from there), which should be fixed with 1.8-Release.
Also with FMCB 1.8, the MCID-Gen-Bug has been fixed, so those where a BSOD on PS2-PowerOn appears, shouldn't have any problems getting FMCB running.
So,... Just for explanation. If I'm wrong, someone should correct me please. Many china-clone-cards are so damn slow, that they are recognized like if you're hot-plugging your MC into the PS2, while it is still on (thus OSD-Upgrade fails on first power-on often, but works on Reset often too.).
I'm not sure, if this directly also was the problem for the looping-bug (old ELF-Loading-Method reload&execute the OSDSYS [which starts the loader] with args and so on...), but (most probably) it will be fixed for CloneCards and they can handle the new loading-method (ELF-Loader, which runs in another memory-address, than OSDSYS).
Thought this ELF-Loader even could be expanded to more,... (to do some other work)
Edit: Btw.: The new loading-method makes the OSD-Hack in itself more reliable,... In my meaning it is far supperior, than the old method.
It is much faster. No need for "rejecting"/relaunching PS2 with args.
The idea about a program, which runs in OSDSYS-Background opens more freedom,... This ELF-Loader could be even more and also could be written, to do more...
