    To jimmikaelkael and Neme:
First of all THANK YOU and everyone who contributed to FMCB.
Now to the point, I bought a new Kingston DataTraveler USB stick (my old one died) and found out that I couldn't use it with FMCB (see this).
Then dlanor provided me with some new drivers that solved all my problems but one. I still can't use my Kingston memory to make a new installation of FMCB because of the embedded drivers that the FMCB Installer uses.
So my request is: Is there a chance you come up with a new FMBC release embedded with dlanor's new drivers?

That would be a little crazy to change the code around for just a USB stick.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but USB drives are cheap. You only need a few Megabytes of space for the install files. And USB drives are becoming cheaper every week...

I'm trying to be rude, at all. I have several Kingston drives, and was in the same position some time ago. But yes it would be a good addition to the installer.. DJ

The drivers already exist... From what I was told the only thing they have to do is recompile the Installer with the new drivers. It isn't needed to change any of the code just put some new drivers. Now I'm not an expert on what and how it should be done, and I'm not, in any way, "dictating" to anyone how to/why do it. I just think that it would be nice for people who have Kingston drivers to be able to use them with their console
This is just an idea don't get me wrong...

I also agree 100% with this request, but I want to emphasize that the drivers are not 'mine'.

My contribution to their coding has been very minor in the form of some ideas, advice, and beta testing. The man chiefly responsible for recent development of the USB drivers is 'radad' of ps2dev.org, also registered here at psx-scene as 'radad1'.

    Best regards: dlanor

Let's hope someone responsible for the FMCB development actually read this thread...

The drivers already exist... From what I was told the only thing they have to do is recompile the Installer with the new drivers.
that is pretty much true, but the access to source code for more recent fmcb versions has become restricted, to stop people from making their "rebranded" fmcb installer rip-offs. (there were such attempts in the past, also people wanted to remove the splash with jimi's and neme's credits)

so i don't really know who has access to it.

It doesn't really matter who has access to it, as far as new releases are concerned.

Those of us who do have the source (like me) are well aware that we have it for experimental and study purposes only. This does not give us the right to hijack the project and make releases with changes of our own. That would just confuse the user group and might lead to mutually incompatible release branches. I for one will have none of that.

This thread is all about getting a new official release, from the official developers, incorporating the new USB drivers embedded into the installer elf.

Such a small change may seem unworthy of a separate release at first glance, but not for those with USB devices incompatible to the current installer. For them such a new release could be the crucial step enabling them to install FMCB.

    Best regards: dlanor

dlanor said it all... There are people who only have the stated brand and want to use them. Maybe they don't want to spend money on other brands for different respected reasons...

I'm losing it, I looked at this thread and read "FMCB Release/Version with Klingon support"

Time for an early night I think.
