FMCB PAL/NTSC Questions

update: nevermind, looks like it can not be done. i saw one thread talking about "MCID & osdomain.elf" files and being able to do this but after reading the 1.7 FAQ a bit more carefully, it says it can not be done... oh well.



Greetings, new forum member with some not so new questions...

I was successful in making my own FMCB memory card using my modded PS2 with Toxic OS. [thanks to all concerned for the great tutorials]

I have a need to create Free McBoot cards for some friends, some of whom have PAL PS2s. Does it make a difference or are there special files I need to be able to accomplish this on my modded NTSC PS2? I saw no FAQs or Tutorials covering this so I'm hoping someone can clue me in or point me to the relevant forum threads.

hehe, the problem is, sometimes research leads you down a stray path. I saw a thread that was discussing the use of the aforementioned "MCID & osdomain.elf" files and I could have sworn they were talking as if they'd done it. I can't find the thread now of course.

The other thing I had in my head despite having read the FAQ tyhat said it was not possible was that if Toxic OS can boot the PS2 in to PAL mode, wouldn't it then be possible to make a PAL version of FMCB... but I can only assume if it were that simple then there would be a tutorial or FAQ on that process... oh well... lol


here's a question for you, when I first got in to this last week, I found a download for 1.8, not 1.7. now I can not find where I downloaded that from, can you tell me where it is? I'm using 1.8 and it's awesome

the odd thing is, I could have sworn it was listed when I clicked the normal download thread, the one that has all the versions listed for download, but when I went back to that it wasn't there so then I thought maybe it was elsewhere. Have you tried google? it is possible I googled it that night as I was doing a LOT of research into the subject.

yeah I looked again too. I really think it was the download page. one minute it was there for download, the next it wasn't .

anyway, it's awesome, I didn't even realize I was using something that not many people had

I'm glad you said that because I had planned on giving them to some friends and given that I am 99% sure I got this from the download thread, I had NO way of knowing it was not being distributed yet until tonight

I am not a forum junkie and I did not know about psx-scene until a few days ago.

I'll stick to gift cards as gifts

if you install it on your friends MC's, that's fine by me. what I don't want distributed is the installer.
