I managed to get a copy of the max drive cd by joytron but without the usb. The software won't recognize my personal stick usb even though its formatted to fat32. Do I need the actual max drive usb?

are you sure it's supposed to be fat32 and not the formatting of the internal PS2 drive? It's been a while but I know there was a program that would transfer your games to the PS2 drive and it had a formatting feature. I would try that. I think there was a couple but try WinHiip. I think that's what I was using at the time
no I mean the max cd software itself doesn't recognize the usb drive the internal ps2 hd shouldn't matter as the software doesn't read it. I want to modify my MC by using this software but as you can see I've hit a big snag. I presumed that it would work with an ordinary usb.
Edit: The product I've bought is supposed to only include the cd as the there is no "space" for the drive to be stuck in.
You might need to repartition your drive then. Delete the partition and create a new Primary partition formatted to fat32. It might not recognize extended partitions
how do I do that? so any usb flash drive is compatible with the max drive disk?
Edit: Nevermind I just find out that the disk is imcompatible with other usb drives. Money down the drain...![]()
However! I recently found a 32mb MC from Datel online on a korean site. Not to repeat any mistakes I would like to know how it connects to the pc and how to memory boot using it. Any help would be extremely appreciated!![]()

The simplest way to get FMCB installed on your MC is either SWAPMAGIC or use the install service.
the AR Max method requires the MAX USB because it has the media player on it...
Swapmagic will work with most USB sticks with a primary partition formated to FAT32.
