And if you are going to install to several MCs (for your friends too), then it makes sense to do them all in one session, one by one. So you boot an FMCB setup from an MC in one slot, and then insert the other MCs in the other slot and use that slot for their FMCB install commands.

After doing this for all the MCs except the one you originally booted from you should replace that one by one of the newly installed MCs, so you can try booting from that new FMCB setup before you reinstall it on the last card that still has the old setup.

This way you're sure not to lose the old setup before having verified that the new one works, while still minimizing the work required. (Rebooting only once, for the verification.)

As for the placement of the 'Nooby' package, I strongly recommend having it on a USB stick.

Not only does this make it much easier to maintain (just plugging that USB stick into a PC), but it also ensures that you can do the job using any compatible PS2, just by bringing an FMCB MC and that USB drive. Moving an HDD back and forth is more cumbersome and also more risky (as an HDD can take damage from any 'bumps' on the way).

    Best regards: dlanor
I got caught up with other projects so was only able to resume this recently.

I had the updated nooby package on my usb stick and my FMCB mem card in card slot one and an empty mc in slot 2.

I followed the Youtube video on in another thread (http://www.youtube.com/user/djflexmaster79)but found my screen would go black until I re-installed the nooby package on the usb stick.

I've now got the FMCB install menu up but when selecting to install to mc 2 the selection panel has gone blank.

I tried everything from scratch and although I can boot up FMCB as far as the boot menu is concerned, but when I select FMCB.elf the screen goes blank no matter what I try.

Can anyone please give me any suggestions why this might be happening?

try another USB stick. some are not compatible with the USB drivers. Kingston are known to be a problem, i has a Toshiba 1 Gb that refused to work. sandisk are the most compatible, never heard of a problem with them. BUT if it has that U3 stuff on it then you need to remove it. go to the sandisk site and download a utility to remove U3...

@spud42, your esp must be working 'cause it is a Kingston stick!

I'll get another brand tomorrow and try again.

    Thanks mate!

I'm trying to install the package and when i install using the multi setup i get an error message . I formatted the MC again and ran the stand alone install that works (finished succesfull) when i then launch fmcb i get the normal start logo after that the ps2 freezes on a flickering black screen.

Just to follow up on my last post, I tried a sandisk usb stick but it only got partially through the install process before stalling.

What I did was just compile another install CD using the 'burn disc' tute and the new install occurred no problems whatsoever.

Man thank you for this, this newbie package helped me out a lot, and the thing is I have one of those generic MC and it worked perfect, weird thing is - I can save games such as PES 2011 and Winning Eleven 2010 with no problems, I also got a MAX DRIVE save in there for MvC2 (all unlocked) and a Shadow of the Colossus save (normal game save) but now I played Hitman Blood Money and MSG 2: Sons of Liberty and the saves failed.

So did anyone that got the noobie package have a save problem? and how does FreeMCBoot format MC option works, does it delete everything except what was installed in the exploit(does noobie package stay intact?)

    Thank you

Any MC format program is designed to format the entire MC, erasing everything on it. The FMCB Installer has the option built-in so you can format the MC, then Install a fresh FMCB Installation. You can still use the Noobie Package for the Installation and it will be the only thing on the MC after the install it done.
