Is it at all possible to use a ps2mc - usb converter to just paste the files i need for FMCB onto the mc from my PC?
the PC picks it up as a mass storage device.. if so can i get a copy of what the root dir should look like on the memory card??

The new installer for FMCB still has to sign the MC so copy past will not work
and the old FMCB will not work that way either

    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred

The only way with PC is with Official PS2 adapter for PS3

That is not an official adapter but you can get swap trick or swap magic

than you could use this to get FMCB 1.8C

    Here is official

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/new...ll-fmcb-88649/

and here is with swap trick or swapmagic

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/uno...staller-96372/ (Unofficial FMCB v1.8C installer)

or you could get another to install for you here

Both DVD and CD support usb access make sure it is 3.6 or 3.7 coder
The only thing that sucks about it is it is picky about usb device

freemcboot not be copied, but installed.
and if you have installed and this happened, unfortunately your ps2 is a v18 (with bios 2.30) and is not compatible with fremcboot.

I installed FMCB on the memory card of my console and then I did start FMCB and it worked fine.
Then I turned off the playstation and when I turned on it, FMCB did not work, instead of FMCB menu (Browser, Configuration, uLaunchELF, ESR, HDLoader, and SMS), was the classic menu of playstation (and Browser Configuration). Why?
