    Ok. Reading through 16 Pages didn't solve my issue.

    I Installed FMCB through the Disc Game Swap with Agent Under Fire and got it installed to Memory Card etc. using the Noobie Package. everything is set. i get the menu to come up. BUT the momet i shut down console OR restart it. menu dissapears and doesn't come back. and i have to keep playing till i get to level 2 which is becoming tediuos. am i doing it correctly? My Setup is as follows:

    USB Drive 512MB - FMCB Installed.
    PS2 Official Sony Mem Card
    Actual Game CD Of Agent Under Fire & Burned Copy With Modded Driving.ELF
    Playstation 2 Console SCPH-90001 ss / 97707 NTSC | U/C
    Purchased About 2 Days Ago. I Would Have Posted The Manufacturer Date But For Some Reason on this damn box and the system i have no clue where it is.

    I'm Looking at the Free McBoot Installer Screen Right Now i installed it to Memory Card like normal. and i'm afraid to click "launch fmcb" as it will show me that glorius menu but then if i restart or turn it off. the menu is gone? i hate when a guide says "RUN" FMCB how am i suppose to get that menu to come up just by turning on Console? When I Reset The Console How Does It Read The Installation On The Card? I Don't Get The Very End after it's installed.

    I never saw the second SCPH.
    Start uLE and open the Filebrowser. Go to MISC --> "Debug Info".

    Look at the ROMVER-String.
    If it starts with "0230", FMCB will never start automatically on your PS2.

    Debug Info Screen:

    rom0:ROMVER = = "0230AC20080220_"

    argc == 1
    argv[0] == "mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF"
    boot_path == "mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF"
    LaunchElfDir == "mc0:/BOOT/"

    So What Would Be My Alternative? Is SwapMagic And A Hard Mod The Only Ways To Get A Homebrew Running?
    And I Still Have The Sav. File For The Driving Stage So Would I Be Able To Bring Up The Menu Through That Then Just Launch Homebrew That Way? Meaning:
    007 > FMCB > ESR, HD Loader, Etc ?

    Yes, you can do the swap-trick and start FMCB through the installer, but you need to swap then ever...

    Ok Then So If i follow correctly:

    007 & Memory Card And USB Drive In.
    Then Swap To Modded 007 That Runs FMCB
    Then Tell Installer To Run FMCB On MC
    Then I'm At The Loader Where I Can Select ESR Or Whatever to Boot HomeBrew.

    So that must be done before anything else every time. adds a extra step but since i dont have to play through Stage 1 repeatedly now. i have it all. Thnxs

    Correct. But the swapping is annoying, would I say.
    Better go for a compatible model.

    Your best option for unmodded homebrew use would be to get SwapMagic discs and use these for booting uLE off a USB drive. This will require having a SwapMagic disc in the tray at boot time, but the laser usage would only last for a second or so each boot, so it will not wear it out in any way. And then you can use uLE to launch any other stuff you want from either USB or network.

    And with SMS and 'Open PS2 Loader' you will also be able to play media files or play PS2 games from either USB drives or Windows file shares on your PC, so you won't have to use the CDVD drive at all except for the booting.

    The swapping methods you've already used could of course be used in future as well, but those methods are very inconvenient, and possibly harmful to the CDVD drive as well. That may be OK for something done just once or twice to install FMCB (as originally planned), but it is not OK for longterm use. You might save a few bucks short-term, but in the long term you'll probably have reason to regret it.

    Best regards: dlanor

    @PhantomLion: Since you purchased it a few days ago (if you want), you mightbe able to return it for a compatible model, but agree with dlanor in the point about buying a swap-disc.
