FMCB freezes after installing hard drive
FMCB freezes after installing hard drive –
11-19-2008,10:16 PM
Have FMCB 1.8, I installed the hard drive and HDLoader detected and formatted it ok. When prompted to insert the disk to copy the game to HD I mistakenly pressed the power instead of eject button
On reboot, FMCB screen is stuck. I took the HD out but no changes. I took that same card on another PS2 and it was stuck as well. Not only that but the FMCB on the other card in that other PS2 stopped working. Somehow inserting that card into the other PS2 made it not able to detect both working cards.
As the last resort, I took both cards to the first PS2 and it can detect the cards. The initial card that caused the problem is still stuck on the FMCB screen but the other card actually is working. I have FMCBconfigurator, Ulauncher on it and would like to fix the card that is stuck on the first screen. I do not want to test HDLoader and risk losing both cards
How do I please reinstall FMCB on the card that died if I have one working card? I verified I can read the file systems on both cards as well as USB drive
THANKS IN ADVANCE

I'm more curious on how you got FMCB 1.8 since it's not released, it's still in testing. and pretty much a closed beta test. Your not on the list of testers.

that would be my fault i got it off jimmi to use on his card since they we're chinese clones...
i'll give you 1.8 again but not here i'll do it in a pm so no one else gets ahold of it.

ahhh. then it's all good then on that front. I'm in a habbit of researching the odd scenarios that pop up.
as for the problem at hand, It is extremely odd that when installing a game via HDL, that it would affect the memory card since it has nothing to do with it. maybe jimmi can shed some light on this one. I'm stumped.

Sorry for not explaining how I got 1.8. I guess inadvertently I became a tester. Maybe 1.8 still has a bug with the cloned cards?
I got instructions and trying to rebuild the original card now. Working on it
Thanks dangwoot

ok update
I was able to format and reinstall fmcb on the bad card and it runs fmcb everytime on the first PS2. now i am copying apps folder over trying to match what dangwoot had installed but still working on it. ESR is missing after I put it in INSTALL folder and run install as some other stuff. I ran Ulaunch and HDLoader. Now when in HD loader, I can't turn off the console but on the hard switch?
I will keep updating as I make progress

My guess is that something was still accessing the MC when your 'interrupted' its process, thus causing a corruption.
I would just format the card and re-install fmcb.
*edit* i see you posted while i was posting too...lol
I really dont understand why HDL would have any effect towards the MC, it doesnt access or even load anything from the MC, only the games would do that.
You might be able to remove the MC while in HDL, then press the power/reset button and it shouldnt affect the MC in any way.
PS2 Consoles:
SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

I did not see your post till now, but I yes I don't understand what corrupted the card (and then what further corrupted the other card) but I reinstalled fmcb on the first one and got up and running. I found out that installer is case sensitive, the files copied from 64M card some had lower case extensions and they did not show up in the browser. I can go with the basics for now to save space on the card and proceed with HDLoader.
Thanks to all for help

I think it's like JNABK said, it was accessing MC when you powered off, leading to a corruption.
