FMCB boot ELF from hdd0

Hey guys.

Thanks for FMCB + ESR. Changed almost everything!

Err, i just want to know how/if i can load ELF files from hdd0. As i have lets say HDLoader ELF on my mc0 and then a bigger ELF like Swap Magic on my hdd0, which runs fine when uLE runs it, i cant transfer the Swap Magic ELF to mc0 due to remaining space left =/

Is there anyway i can do this?

not enough space left in the loader to add the IRX (drivers) for the HDD. Not to mention adding more code to make it run. besides, it free MC boot. Not free hdd boot.

No. Like Bootlegninja said, the FMCB booter has no room for HDD drivers.

Changing that booter to give it more room for drivers is currently only possible by switching to a much larger file which would then waste a lot more MC space (to the tune of appx 1.4 MB !!!), so that is not a valid solution.

Obvious workarounds for this problem is to use a larger MC, so you can store the SM elf on it, or to use a USB drive for that elf (and any others) that you want to launch through FMCB.

I have a 14mb card with Free Mc Boot on, i have the ammount needed for the extra drivers as you said, but not for SM

You don't quite understand.

The FMCB loader ELF file must be equal or less than the original DVD PLAYER elf file in the ps2. memory card free space isn't even relavant at this point.

Slim PS2's have a 75KB dvd player size.
Fat PS2's have one that is larger than that.

and most times it will be a 75KB install that will take place. and also, it's wasted in a slim since it can't use a hdd except in the case of the version 12/13.

also, It's impossible for you to have a 14MB card since the ps2 will only register them in 8MB incriments. I could understand you having a 8, 16, 32, 64MB card, but not a 14.

I'll need to make a note in the tutorial that people shouldn't be stoned when trying to do this kind of stuff. with that said, I need to leave this thread before I go on my rant on drug use.

I'm very interested in this method, but I wonder what is the difference between this and putting uLE in multiple folders on the MC with .cnfs to auto launch an elf from the HDD?
