I was wondering if any one has ny thing to say about this.
I'm a noobie at this but I'm trying to get into this.
For while ago I installed FMCB 1.8 noobie package. Now I tried to reinstall the package with the change of ulaunch to newer version the 4.37. What I'm wondering is that when you download this from sksapps. You get alot of other files too: an uncompressed BOOT. ELF don't rellay know what it's for. A launch elf.cnf file and a source folder well alot of txt files to. Why aren't these extra files included in the noobie package? Could one insert these files somewhere in the install folder of FMCB 1.8 for a reinstall to gain more stuff? Any comment are welcome.

You really don't have to do a new install everytime there is an update. Such as the ULaunch. Download the new ULaunch folder copy the new BOOT.ELF to a USB stick. You just need to start your PS2 and open ULaunch, browse to your USB stick, and hit R1 and copy the new BOOT.ELF and browse back to your MC that has FMCB on it and open the BOOT FOLDER and hit R1 again DELETE the old BOOT.ELF, hit R1 again and paste.

The .cnf files is there just in case some wants to make a custom one. As for the source code: because it is a OPEN SOURCE program, they put the info out there for other people / programmers to check it out.

As for adding for apps. to FMCB you just need to the same as I said earlier download the .ELF file and copy it to your USB stick or your MC.
As for adding more items onto the browser screen, I have a video tutorial on youtube under my name. DJ

All those 'extra' files in the uLaunchELF download are mostly source files and changlog information about all the changes made from version to version.

The only file you need from the whole download is the BOOT.ELF and do as djflexmaster79 mentioned to copy/paste it to your current FMCB installation on the MC, no need to re0install FMCB as it hasnt changed any.

Thanks guys for your efforts. I will try to use your methods. Since I'm a noobie copy paste stuff is new to me. I'm not sure but I can't find my way to DJ:s youtube tutorial. Please link me there. But would this copy paste work with the new sms player 2.9. Well when reinstalled the new ulaunch turned up normaly but the SMS player didn't so I tried to change the name to just SMS without sucess. Will DJ:s tutorial help with this? Is it a cnf editing tutorial?

Then you should download the very latest instead, which is v4.38

What I'm wondering is that when you download this from sksapps.
Just so you know: The real home site of uLaunchELF (aka: uLE, but NOT 'ulaunch') id here at psx-scene. (uLE has a subforum of its own for releases and user feedback)

You get alot of other files too:
The official releaze ZIPs always contains a lot of things that the average user doesn't need, such as the full source code of the program, plus some other stuff that is rarely needed.

an uncompressed BOOT. ELF don't rellay know what it's for.
It is there mainly for debugging purposes, and in case some software has problems with the normal (compressed) elf.

    A launch elf.cnf file
That "LAUNCHELF.CNF" file is heavily commented, and those comments are the only existing public documentation for some of the features of uLE, some of which actually require you to edit your own LAUNCHELF.CNF file (in mc0:/SYS-CONF/ normally), so as to make use of 'hidden' abilities, not available in the configuration menus. Read that file at least once, so as to get a general idea of what features this can unleash. Don't try to memorize everything in that reading. Just scan through it to learn whatever you can glean by reading it that way. This may help a lot in the future, when you find a need for such features.

and a source folder well alot of txt files to.
uLE is an open-source project, so the official release package always includes full source code. Normal users can safely ignore anything inside the "source" folder.

Why aren't these extra files included in the noobie package?
Because they are not considered necessary for a pure binary release of uLE, used here as an accessory of the main project FMCB.

Could one insert these files somewhere in the install folder of FMCB 1.8 for a reinstall to gain more stuff?
No. But once you have used uLE, and caused it to save a CNF file, then you can use the information from the commented LAUNCHELF.CNF to make some additions to your own CNF file (in "mc0:/SYS-CONF/") to activate some of the abilities I hinted at above.

Such include the ability of the HOST protocol to get write access to files on a networked PC, for example. This is very useful for making the uLE FileBrowser store gamesave backups on a PC.

EEUG releases SMS with version and revision numbers in the file name, and with a lowercase ".elf" extension. This must be changed in storing the file on your memory card, so that the file is stored as "mc0:/BOOT/SMS.ELF". Then FMCB will accept it as having replaced the old version (which you should either delete first or overwrite with this copying of the new elf)

    Best regards: dlanor

Thanks dlanor for your effort. I did download 4.38 just recently. I will dig into the copy paste elf files stuff. Since I got no programming skills those extra files wouldn't help me..well guess I wouldn't really be here if I were. Good to know what files one should concentrate on. Well just after I posted here the first time I did make the connection that this place is where it all originated guess the first hint would be the screen that loads up when you swich you ps2 on. Just that sksapps have it all very netly laid up.
Hehehe will try to correct my language on the uLE part.
Just wondering if someone is working on a FMCB 1.9 version. What would be expected from it etc?
