I just realized the last time I patched hdl that I have 0.8b. I downloaded 0.8c from the hdl page here on the forum, I got some virus alert and my computer couldn't "unrar" it. I downloaded it again a different day, and could uncompress it, but it doesn't work when I try to patch it in dos. It(hdlpatch_08c.exe) also has a different icon than any of the others (older) have. Is it for use specifically with a certain gui or something?

Are you correctly putting the arguments? Try "hdlpatch_08c.exe --help"
The gui is here (even though title says 07c):
I think I need fmcb with the language fix, but no cd/dvd intiliazation fix...Unless someone can confirm that hdl_0.8b will not work with fmcb 1.5+ but hdl_0.8c will on a V9 unit. For some reason I need to find a file "CC3270MT.DLL" and put it on my pc before hdlpatch_0.8c.exe will allow me to patch an elf and try it out for myself. I can't imagine it's a difference in that sense between hdl08b and hdl08c, though...
Question already answered here.

Thanks, I checked out the thread. Went to download the version of hdl08c that doesn't need that file, and the computer I'm using is telling me it's a virus or malware or something, so I didn't download it...
"Obviously" your ani-virus is wrong. Disable it before running the patcher, then reenable.
I thought so, but it is aPC at work and I didn't want to take any chances...Anyway, I did get to patch a clean hdloader.elf to 08c last night. Tried it with /N, tried it with /S and tried it without N or S and still same results as with 0.8b: Hdloader only works with no disk in the drive using fmcb1.5+ with the /N patch, and only works with my V9 IF I have the disk tray ejected when I start HDL. I also tried every runme.elf with 1.1b from the thread Suloku linked earlier in this thread, and 1.1a doesn't work with the tray closed and a V9...all the other ones did work, but still have the whole language problem. I guess I'll just keep trying to remember to have my tray ejected anytime I want the start hdl. Thank you all for the help!
The whole runme thing was just to know if the problem was caused by the cdvd fix.
BTW did you try the hdloader I sent you?
If you're not going to use any discs or other homebrew than hdloader I can compile you a 1.7 fmcb launcher without the cdvd patch.
It will be like 1.1, but with all 1.7 features (maybe disc booting features stop working...or maybe booting into the hacked osdsys fixes the cdvd by itself :S)
No I didn't try that hdloader of yours...I didn't see the point as I can easily patch one myself with or without /S /N or whatever...Unless I misunderstood you. I would like to try a 1.7 fmcb launcher without the cd/dvd init. fix just outk of curiosity. I'm not interested in any drive functionality as my drive in that unit doesn't work at all. If you make it, I will test it! Thanks again.
There you go, put this EMBED.ELF at the INJECT folder on fmcb 1.7 install.
EDIT: I uploaded another one (embed_noinit_cfg.rar). I thought it would be cool to just enable/disable the cdvd init fix in the cfg file. Add this to the cnf file manually with ule or whathever you prefer.
"CDVD_init_fix = 1"
That's the default value, enabled (no cnf file found, or the entry isn't present). You have interest on having it set to 0.
Notice that whenever the configurator is run and you save a cnf with it the entry will be removed (so default value 1 will take place).
BTW I updated the cnf parser with 4.29 ule's (just a copy paste).
edit2: damn, does uploading these **** up the license? I read it, but I can't remember now.
edit3: should be fine now, the license thing isn't handy for this kind of things.
I didn't upload the source for the one that only has the init.irx removed, I hope there's no problem with that (it's just a matter of removing it's references at the header file, the loading and the compiling in the makefile if someone wonders).
