Finally installed but some issues. –
I hate to make a new post when I can probably find it from searching. But right now I'm feeling VERY overwhelmed from having looked at a TON of posts. But I FINALLY managed to get FMCB 1.8b, atleast I think B, onto my memory card and I can get into HDloader, ESR, SMS, and the configuration spot of Ulaunch. But what I can't figure out how to do is play my backups. I have a Swap Magic ELF on a USB and I run it from Ulaunch with MGS3 in my drive, SM boots up, and I replace that disk with my backup like I've read in tutorials and run it. My PS2 looks like it does a restart, goes black screen for a couple seconds like games usually do while they boot up, and then the screen just has the Free McBoot splash screen, I guess it's called, on screen. With the link saying where you can get it and what not.
So I'm not sure if I'm burning it wrong or if I'm running it wrong or what. I patched it with the ESR patcher, but as I said I'm very overwhelmed and confused and just hoping someone can help me out. It might be my DVD that I used which was a KHypermedia DVD+R since it was all I have on hand at the time. If that's the case it's just a matter of buying new DVDs which would be nice. If not I could use a bit of help.
Well you don't need swap magic at all for running a ESR patched disc.
If everything in the FMCB configuration is left on default settings the ESR disc will autoboot, no swap needed, which is ESR's purpose.
So just do this.
1. put in ESR patched disc, (must be a DVD based game, not CD) CD based games have a blue bottom
2. disc will autoboot
As far as media goes the brand you have is pretty much the worst. Use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Sony DVD+R booktyped to DVD-ROM. This will stress the laser less and will work in any PS2 that has a good laser.
Alright thanks. Yeah I knew it's pretty bad. But I just wanted to test it to see if it would work and it was all I had from a couple years ago. lol But considering it didn't autoboot, cause I tried that as well, I either burned it wrong, or it's just cause of being a crappy DVD.
::EDIT:: Oh and how do I booktype it to DVD-ROM?
NVM I figured it out.
