Thanks to these forums, I have been able to successfully install FMCB to my MC, with ulaunchelf, sms and esr. I have a few problems that I need solved so that I can start enjoying my system.
I have used SM 3.6 using Magic Keys 2 and PSP as usb device to install FMCB 1.8b. My console is a Slim version PAL SCPH-77004 and Magic Keys 2 parts are still installed in case I need SM 3.6 again, ulaunchelf version is 4.30.
I have a 37" Full HD LCD TV which does no wonders for PS2 gameplay. In fact, of all the games I have tried (NCAA 09, PES 6,08,09) I have experienced grainy, muddy looking graphics with huge AA issues despite using a component cable. This is why I want to enable 480p/576p using HDTV Xploder. I have the cracked a9vg elf which I boot using ulaunchelf and it boots ine to the main menu of the XHDTV. However when I tried booting a game from this menu, a black strip writing "starting game" shows for a few seconds before returning to the menu. This happens with backups as well as my original SM 3.6 DVD and CD. I read through the main HDTV thread and tried inserting the disk before launching the elf and it doesn't work for me. I have waited for a month to receive SM 3.6 in the mail (I live in Turkey) so I would rather not wait for the retail version if I can avoid it. It would be good to know if other people using a similar spec console like mine have been successful in using XHDTV and what I can do to make it work.
Just as a side note : the discs do not start spinning when I try to boot them in the XHDTV menu. It makes me wonder whether I should remove one of the pieces of MK2 that block the PS2 sensors.
Another question I have is regarding ESR, do you think I can try to boot XHDTV or SM 3.6 by patching them for ESR use. Is this plausable ?
Finally, there's a chance that I can get my hands on a CRT Display. It's a mint condition Sony 22" CPD-E530 which has two vga connectors. If I were to connect the PS2 to this monitor which accepts analog RGB signal, can I just use a self made vga adapter and change PS2 output to RGB ? I hope I can use this monitor for PS2 gaming, despite being smaller than my TV, it's contrast ratio and color reproduction is better than any LCD I have had the pleasure of viewing.
