    I have it installed. So I should be able to stick it in there, and it should boot? I stuck the usb in and turned it on. Nothing happens. Do I have to do something?

    Edit: I burned uLE to a disc, @ 1x speed, and this still isn't working. I can't navigate the menu for it. If I scroll down, it starts me back at the top and I can't do anything. I went out and bought a brand new memory card for this, I just want this to work. No one has a tutorial for this?

    Ok, im a little confused on your process.

    You installed Free McBoot and it said it installed successfully? {using the files provided by TNA above}
    You re-started the console WITHOUT a USB and it didnt boot uLE?
    You re-started the console WITH a USB and still nothing happened?

    You then tried to run uLE from a disc and it also wont boot uLE?

    Have you tried to run uLe from a USB stick with SwapMagic's SMBOOT option?

    I just dont understand how uLE wont run at all for you, maybe try a different download of uLE's older versions.

    I don't either. I installed it using FMCB on a disc installed correctly, I used 2 different MC's. Went and bought a new one. Both are Sony 8MB. I had uLE renamed as BOOT.ELF in a BOOT folder, so it should have copied it to the MC, right? Well it apparently didn't because the option just restarts the console. I can boot uLE on disc with swap magic but i can't scroll down. Its like its just..broken. I scroll down, it brings it back to the top. It's just my luck. I somehow have problems no one has ever heard of :/. I burned three different discs. One @ 16x, one @ 4x, one @ 1x. ALl have that same problem. It is just ridiculous how this isn't working.

    Edit: Does it matter brand cd? It's memorex. I don't know if I need Sony or something.

    No, not in any folder, just on the root along with the installer.

    Having it in a BOOT folder on the USB stick should auto-boot only if there is none found elsewhere and the USB stick is in the console on a re-start.

    Alright, I apologize, I'm goign to go into as much detail as possible.

    I downloaded the .iso for ULE. I used Ultraiso to add FMCB.ELF & HDL.ELF. I started the disc with swap magic and it boots into uLE, but I can't navigate it. I then replaced teh uLE BOOT.ELF with FMCB BOOT.ELF. So I booted into it and installed it no problem, said successful. So now I need to use uLE to copy uLE to the MC in mc0:\BOOT but thats my problem. I can't get a workign copy of uLE. It won't let me scroll down in it, so I can't click anything except the first item on the list, with just leads to the "..." option so I just go back. I need to get a working copy of uLE. I've burned 3 copies and all have the same problem. Should I try going down a version or 2? I'm using 4.16 right now. I tried adding TnA's files to the usb stick, but it never started. The files were in the root directory, still didn't boot.

    That about sums it up. Should I try a different version?

    Ahh, i see....did you also add a BOOT.ELF on the root of the CD? There needs to be a file with that name to be copied by the Free McBoot installer.

    Use the compressed one, since its going to the MC.

    I mean a filename specifically BOOT.ELF, or was that the name already being used by the SYSTEM.CNF ? Most people use a SLUS number for the disc's boot filename, so thats why i said put BOOT.ELF on the root and all in caps.

    The Free McBoot installer should do the navigation and just add it for you to the MC during the install, you shouldnt need to install it again afterwards.

    @nintendo9713:
    The uLE 'scrolling' problem you mentioned in your posts is a partly known issue with gamepad initialization. When this happens it usually acts as if a gamepad button is constantly pressed, and usually that is the D-pad 'Up' button, which gives the 'scrolling' effect you described. This problem is not fully explored yet, but it seems that several factors are involved, including the gamepad itself (new ones are less likely to suffer) affecting whether or not the problem will strike at all and whether it will then persist. And unfortunately all homebrew 'exploits' are more likely to cause it (non-Sony init), even if the gamepad works fine with games (standard Sony init).

    Some things you can try are to temporarily disconnect the gamepad and/or switch the analog mode on/off. Sometimes that can stop this auto-repeating button behaviour. Another thing you can try is to edit the LAUNCHELF.CNF file to automatically launch another instance of uLE (having a different CNF of course). In most cases the gamepad initialization of the second instance will work better than the first, thus curing the problem.

    Best regards: dlanor
