What exactly are you trying to do ? Making a fresh install of FMCB in order to have 1.8 ? And you're booting a ESR-patched disc for this purpose ? If so, you're following a more complicated procedure than needed. All you have to do is put the noobie pack on a USB-stick, launch uLaunchELF with FMCB and launch the FREEMCBOOT.ELF (the installer), as described in many tutorials (if you're really lost, follow this one (for example) starting from the part uLaunchELF has been launched).
Unless you don't have uLaunchELF on your MC ? If that's so, you could try putting uLaunchELF at the root of your USB-stick and renaming it RESCUE.ELF (although I'm not totally sure this works with 1.5, but I guess some could (dis)confirm)...

Im trying to make a fresh install of Free MC Boot 1.8 on an empty memory card. Im not trying to patch.
The thing is with the 1st memory card (esr+fmcb) i cant do anything but play games. When It doesnt recognize USB sticks, it even didnt recognize the Free MC Boot CD Installer http://freemcboot.info/disc.php ...
When I click on Open App it freezes, when I click on OSDSYS it restarts...
If I start the ps2 + memory card 1 with a DVDgame inside a screen appears Free MC Boot for a few seconds and then ESR menu appears where i can only click on Launch CDVD or Launch App or Launch OSDSYS ... i tried all of them and nothing happened... freeze at launch app ... restart at launch osdsys...
help :s
