There isn't a softmod-section here.

Yes, your PS2 is capable of running burned disc on it own, but these only include Video-DVDs, if your PS2 isn't allready softmodded and even then, a PS2 does only grant access to burned Video-DVD-Conform discs (Video-DVDs, "Fake-Video-DVDs" and ESR/Memento-Discs).
I have everything needed and plan on using the need for speed underground 2 method found at the bottom of the page, but im confused with the Blank discs - Use good quality in the requirements. . . . i know how picky ps2's are with there pressed disc's and such, and because my ps2 isnt currently softmodded i dont know if it can read blank plain discs, (for me i would be using DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-Rs) im hoping i dont need a pressed swapmagic disc, as for i have no money, but have previously owned DVD+Rs . . . . I hope this makes sense to someone, and again i apologies for placing this thread in the PS2 General Discussion forum . . . . -Feroy.
Anyway,... Since you are using the swap-trick, both the logical DVD-Type (-ROM, -Video,...) and the blank media-type, doesn't matter.
So it shouldn't matter if you booktype your DVD+R, or not.
The logical disc-type and the physical media-type are checked before the swap occurs.
No, you do not need to have a "Retail" swap-magic-disc.
In fact any original PS2-Disc should work.
Those with a secondary ELF only make it a bit easier, than the time-double-hot-swap, which you can do with every game, while the PS2-Logo shows up.
