I have a SCPH-77004 PS2 and I was wondering what is the easiest method to get Free MCBoot on my PS2?

It is a PAL PS2, keep that in mind. Also, when I get FMCB, will I just be able to burn my backups and play them off a DVD-R with no hassle?

I'm not sure whats the easiest for installing Free McBoot, I used the PS1 overbuffer exploit but that required me purchasing a disc and there are probably free alternatives. As far as burning backups. You'll need a program called ESR, you have to patch games with ESR and run the ESR program on the PS2 to play games. Not all games work with ESR but the compatibly is nearly perfect from what I know.

the easiest and cheapest method guaranteed to work is to use one of the European installers. postage is cheaper than buying a game to do a exploit that may not work for you or buying swapmagic which will work...

the installer will probably use the Noobie package which has ESR,SMS, uLE and OPL these are all you need to start with. with uLE you can then copy and launch ather homebrew from either USB or MC.
ESR tricks the PS2 into thinking the game is a movie bypassing the disk check. the game needs to be patched with ESR patcher first then burnt to a GOOD quality DVD-R disk. we suggest using IMGBURN at half the speed of the disk or on its AWS setting.

If I want to use the swap magic method, do I need to block any lasers or do I need any swap tools?

No! You only need to use SwapMagic's ability to start ELFs from USB.

    You need a newer SM-Version, either 3.6 or 3.8.
