I recently bought a 15 pack of Memorex DVD+R DL (RITEK-S04-66) and whenever I put my backup into the PS2, It makes a whole bunch of scratching like noises. My other DVD5s work just fine. I am suspecting a laser issue as I've been reading around the internet. Any help?

EDIT: For more information, I use a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA 4167B DVD Burner and burn at 2.4x for DVD+R DL, with booktype DVD-ROM.

EDIT 2: I also use DVD Decrypter

It's probably poor quality media, for DVD+R DL I would only use verbatim.

So my media is causing the PS2 to make loud clicking noises and grinding noises? I've used Memorex DVD-R's before and had no issues with them.

EDIT: I should of added that the games don't load when I put them in the PS2.

The thing is, my PS2 is a v9. Is there a way I can fix this so it can read DVD+R DL?

Your PS2 does read DVD+DL (if the laser is in good condition, a good DVD-Media is used and the burning-quality is high.).

It is (most probably) a media-quality-issue.
Try Verbatim DVD+R DL, as already mentioned and you should be fine.

Hmmm, is it normal for my PC to read only one layer of the disc? This might be a problem if it isn't.

    just use good media...

there is a list in the scorehero.com software forum, under nickb11's guide, even though that is for custom Guitar Heroes

and yes, its usual for your pc to read only one layer of the disk.
to fix this, rip the iso using IMGBurn

(also, assuming your the FoG from SH, then you know what i'm talking about)
