Does the USB have to be in the PS2 when doing the swap trick?

will it still boot ulaunch.elf without a usb in the drive?

are you trying to install FMCB ? if yes then once you installed FMCB then dont need neither Swap Trick or USB Drive anymore just the memory card you installed FMCB on it .

yes i mean when doing 007. i swap at the screen and it goes to black, im wondering if its not launching ONLY because i didnt have the usb in. or if thats just needed when using the noobie package.

i am using my friends usb so i dont have ready access and i dont want to borrow it for it not to even work

I HAVE RESOLVED MY ISSUE, MAKING DRIVING.ELF LOWERCASE TO driving.elf FIXED IT SO IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING PROBLEMS TRY THIS.
