Wow. All I can say is wow, I was bored so I decided to start hacking my PS2, got on youtube and thought the latest hack was still swap magic. Then I came along this FCMB and it is amazing.

    Anyway, I have some questions.

When I first tried to install FCMB I formatted the MC, but after I did that I tried to install FCMB and it told me I was missing a bunch of files. I did it again without formatting the MC and it worked fine. I am using the PS1 exploit with gameshark.

Also, my laser I believe is dying on me as I am using Verbatim DVD-R to burn my ESR games and while playing Tekken 5 had problems with button inputs. So if I want to buy a new ps2, walking into walmart and getting a slim is that possible? or should i get a used one and if i do what should i look for.

Last question, I used the Noobie pack from sys to install FCMB, are their updated versions of those files now, or am i running the latest thing.

If someone could answer these questions I would be very appreciative, thanks.

If you want good game compatibility and no discs to have to burn, then get a used Fat console and a Network Adapter so you can use an internal IDE HDD for your games with HD Loader (included in the Noobie Package). If you cant get one of the fat ones, then make sure that any Slim models are older than 2008 manufacture's date, as Sony removed the feature that allows FMCB to work (around midway thru the year), so take caution of any brand new slims for sale. These models have a SCPH-9000x number.

As for the Noobie Package, yes it is up-to-date with the apps it contains, with may the exception of SMS....that might have gotten updated since.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

I have the fat right now with the network adapter, so all I do is unplug it get a hardrive then put it back in. Put the burned game in the counsle then open up HD Player, install game and then I can run it right from the HD?

    1. Speed of games such as GOWII and such
    2. What type of hard drive?
    3. How would I install DL games such as GOWII

Thanks for the quick reply btw

first how much size is your hdd ?
you need to use WinHIIP 1.7.6 to Format the HDD and here take a look how to connect the hdd to pc :

    http://www.console-exploits.com/foru...ead.php?t=9235

and here the Guide how to use WinHIIP 1.7.6

    http://www.console-exploits.com/foru...ead.php?t=9236

1- using HDL with Internal HDD you can play fine .

2-check this link for Compatibility HDD

    http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/

3- make an ISO of DL games using either DVD Decrypter or IMGBURN then use WinHIIP 1.7.6 to install DL games .

Ok, I get it. Thanks for the help.

Also can you answer my formatting MC question. When I ran FCMB installer and did Format MC it wouldn't install FCMB, any reason why this happened?

I got a nyko 3rd party one, do the sony ones work better?

It installed fine, but when I did format MC during the FCMB install it wouldn't let me install because I was missing a bunch of files. I did it again without formatting the MC and it worked fine but I feel that it didn't install completely correct. It works fine, ESR works fine.

@TakeMeOut: The same exact thing happened to me.

When I tried to install FMCB v1.8 to MC (Sony), it says:

-> "No USBD.IRX, USBHDFSD.IRX found in INSTALL/MODULES folder. FMCB loader will not have access to USB device ...".
-> "No BOOT.ELF detected in your INSTALL folder!"

I've checked the files and file names in the USB Pen Drive, and all is well. I reformatted the USB Pen Drive and Extract a fresh one, same results.
I even copied the Extract to both MC, same result.

Of course FMCB allows me to "force" Install my MC (just like TakeMeOut, I would like to know how to install FMCB correctly though).

I'm just curious, which procedure did I missed? What did I do wrong?

Those messages definitely state that the files in question were not accessible to the installer program at runtime. Various causes may have that effect (more below).

I've checked the files and file names in the USB Pen Drive, and all is well.
But we are not sure what you mean by "well" here. In order to work properly the folder structure of the installation package must be exactly correct, with the "INSTALL\" folder containing most of the other stuff EXCEPT for the "FREE_MCBOOT.ELF" file, which must be stored beside the "INSTALL\" folder and never inside it.

An additional possibility, apart from file/folder structure and names, is that the USB device itself is not compatible to the drivers of the installer program, even though it is compatible to the (slightly newer) drivers of uLaunchELF. For such cases uLE can launch the installer without a problem, but the installer is then incapable of accessing the drive it was launched from, which explains the error messages you got.

I reformatted the USB Pen Drive and Extract a fresh one, same results.
I even copied the Extract to both MC, same result.
I have no idea what you mean by "Extract" here. I have never seen that term used in any FMCB context before. Hopefully you simply meant using the pair of objects "FREE_MCBOOT.ELF" and "INSTALL\" (containing the rest of the stuff), and that you copied these into a folder on the MC. The package should work that way too (I've used it so myself), provided that you have the proper folder structure and correct file/folder names for everything.

Of course FMCB allows me to "force" Install my MC (just like TakeMeOut, I would like to know how to install FMCB correctly though).

I'm just curious, which procedure did I missed? What did I do wrong?
That's impossible to pinpoint without knowing exactly what you did, in every detail.

    Best regards: dlanor
