identified by info from - http://www.mod-chip.com/en/ps2version.htm

"Only released in Europe. The model # is SCPH-50004 with a GH-027 or GH-029 board. Same board as v10 but console comes with a new laser unit."

Works damn fine using version 1.1
NTSC-U v9 and v10, both 500001 units.

This thread is useless as it works on ALL consoles.

It's just that the save HAS to be for the Magic Gate REGION the console is and be signed to the memory card.

Also, the Magic Gate region is not really related to GAME region.

Now a useful thread would be "Working 3rd party memory cards"

Just fyi all HORI memory cards should work because they use SONY chips.

1.0 - 1.1 - 1.2 works : PAL V9 Silver

v 1.2 is having lots of compatibility problems.
