There is a adapter that i have from HKEMS, PS2 adapter that can be used with this Smart Media adapter.

And it works fine with PS2 saves, to bad I doesn't know where my SM card is at.

You can use the adapter as long you keep a PS2 MC in the slot to use the MG functions.

    Edit: Link fixed.

Both links to the same Page.

To bad it still needs an MC.
At least, it is a possibility to extend the memory (so I can go with it. I would rather try one of the 128MB-Clones. I want to compare there speeds and tests.).

    Sorry, a bit OT.

That is not quite what we were talking about earlier.
The text abut that adapter says: "Support 8M/16M/32M smart media or EMS flash card"

But we were talking about using a normal SD card (as used in phones, cameras, etc).
And those have an upper limit much, much higher than anything shown on those pages.

I'm not sure exactly what an "EMS flash card" is though, if it's not just another name for those 'smart media' cards, as it was impossible to find any info about it.
(I backed to the site root and searched everywhere.)

However, the largest size mentioned anywhere on those pages was 32MB, which is nowhere near the smallest sizes of SD cards currently used. (The only one I have is 1GB, which would be a bit much for MC use... )

    Best regards: dlanor

It would be possible to hack an existing MC, since it uses normal NAND memory, same than in SD-cards.
Someone with PIC-programming knowledge, could make that adapter easily i think. Just rip the existing memory chip, replace with PIC, maybe 16F88 would do(?), and redirect the datalines to SD-card.
I tried to start learning those chips some time ago, but i dont have much free time.

There are two chips on MC, a controller and the memory. Leave controller untouched, that handles all MG etc. things, put datalines from that chip to the PIC, and from PIC, to SD.
