Hey, i was wondering how (and if you even can) load the codebreaker .elf and then run backup games? (with or without ESR)

EDIT: actually, i have a Codebreaker, is it possible to go to ESR but run the regular Codebreaker disk, then boot up the ESR patched game when needed?

I'm pretty sure that there is a codebreaker elf out somewhere that is meant to run HDLoader after using it, I would think that you could make it so that it ran ESR after codebreaker instead.

Also, I have never tried it, but one of the ESR ELFs is supposed to launch "either mcx:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF or mcx:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF" and then you could run a normal codebreaker followed by the backup disc.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, there is a PATCHED VERSION floating around (Google it), that will load HDLoader.

But you can rename your HDLoader.ELF file to the file that you want to run
(ESR, ULaunch) and you will then have the option to load from your disk drive....

All information on how to "patch" the codebreaker can be found here Codebreaker patched to load HDL.

The information found there will not only patch for loading HDL. (Look for the info on "CB_launch.elf")

For getting it on your MC just start uLE go to mass:/

Locate the elf you want select it and press R1 go to option "Copy"

Browse back to your MC (MC0: if MC in Slot 1, MC1: if in Slot 2)

Locate the old version of your Application (the folder which contains the elf)

Go into the folder press R1 again the select the option "Paste"

You have to confirm to override the old file.

There you go with an updated version of your application.

In fact uLE does not require confirmation to overwrite a file.
Confirmation is only required when overwriting a folder.

see, what the problem is, is that I cant figure out how to do any of this (i just installed all of this today...this is my first day of having FMCB), i cant figure out how to patch it myself (yes, i read that thread countless times) and is what I am understanding correct? i copy the Codebreaker elf and paste it over the ESR? and that will update my ESR or whatever so that its Codebreaker and ESR? -_- i dont get any of this.....(well, i get some of it...but...yea)

    No.

You have to update your Codebreaker. The patched Codebreaker can then be used to launch ESR or HDL.

Like Northbear said, you got that all wrong. The usage he describes is basically correct, though lacking in detail.

I won't describe how to do the patching, since that is amply described in its own thread.
You'll just have to study it a bit more until you know what to do.

Nothing I can say here will make it easier for you to grasp how to do that, but I will describe how to use the stuff after patching.

What you end up with is a patched CodeBreaker elf file of some considerable size. That size varies depending on CB version, but will be several megabytes in any case. So most people prefer to run that elf from USB drives or IDE HDD, so as not to waste MC space. (That really goes for any unpatched CB elf too of course, as all CB elfs are large.)

The patched CB elf file works seemingly as the normal CodeBreaker does, in how you select the game to be cheated and the cheat codes to use for it (or edit new cheats), but differs in what happens when you tell it to start the game.

What it will then do is instead to launch another elf file, and my favourite choice is a special elf made to reboot FMCB (but with the cheat routines still resident). This allows you to use any game boot method you please for the game to be cheated, including both HDLoader and ESR, which are then to be launched as you normally would, usually from FMCB menu or from uLE. (But unfortunately USBAdvance will not work with CodeBreaker.)

All the while during those game launch operations the cheat routines of CodeBreaker remain resident and waiting for the time the game launch has completed, so that the memory content matches the "master code" conditions which then causes the other cheats to 'activate'.

    Best regards: dlanor
