I am trying to install free mc boot on my ps2. I am using the hd advance method. I downloaded all the files, installed the u launch elf ISO to the hard drive for the ps2. Copied the "INSTALL" folder along with "FREE_MCBOOT. ELF to the usb.

I get as far as where i load up hd advance, i am then supposed to run the u launch program on the ps2 from hd advance, i click on it to run and then the screen stays black no matter what. It just doesnt do anything. Ive tried several usb sticks, even a burned cd with the files. Nothing helps.

I am starting to think that it has something to do with it not loading up the u launch elf iso or whatever off the hard drive when i click run, cuz it doesnt even ask for the usb files or anything of that sort, just black screen after i click run..

Does anyone have any input on this?

Run the uLaunchELF program from the Games List ( you may need to set Mode3 if you get a blackscreen)
that's the first thing to try.

if that doesn't help, i think i've had some issues in the past. i initially got an unmodded console with hd advance disks too.

i installed the ulaunchelf cd image to ps2 hdd and ran it from there. i think i had to experiment with actual uLE version a bit.

be advised that not all homebrews may work correctly when launched from HDL, and they are likely to lock up if you try cd access. i made my way out by running ulaunchelf, then running a ps1 exploit installer and rebooting into ulaunchelf through it, skipping hd advance.

Well i tried that before, i think ive tried all modes before. I tried to do this a while back and it never worked, thought id try again. Well i just tried mode b again, does nothing. As far as i know, i dont have any other way of installing it with what i have around. Im not looking to purchase anything, was hoping the hd advance method would work.

Ok i downloaded ANOTHER copy of the iso for the hard drive, when i extracted it it said it was 1gb when the zip folder was like 1mb. Which is weird, either way i installed it to the hard drive and it loads now. So as far as i know, its installed since it said the install was successful. Hope it works
