Hi, noob here with a simple question.
Can you install FMBC through a DVD+R?
Apparently you can use CD-Rs through the method on the freemcboot website, but my Ps2 can no longer read CD-Rs. It does have a modchip to read my burnt backups so I know that it can still read DVDs, but I want to make sure I can still use it even after the lens dies out on me.

yes, you can. you can download a dvd image of ulaunchelf from HERE, burn it to a dvd, boot it on your modded ps2 and download freemcboot from HERE (Unofficial FMCB v1.8C installer), put it in a USB drive and put the drive on your ps2, then in ule you go to :/mass and run the elf with the O button and follow instructions.
