I don't know but I believe it would accept FMCB if you make a NTSC J card for it.
And there's more to it. You probably don't want to ruin it's laser with DVDR as it's quite a interesting colectible.
Opening it to install a modchip would qualify you as a possible target for murder...
Anyway, it's BIOS is based on the 10k PS2 even thought it's chipset is based on the PS2 SLIM (it was the original purpose SONY created the EE+GS chip. SONY later used on the PS2 slim when the PSX failed on selling.) so, hence why only the Ghost2 chip works in it. (Ghost2 is the only chip made in 2005+ that would support the PS2 10k)
