I got this V14 with Mars Revolution modchip, having Matrix v1.82 firmware.
After installing FMCB, I got problems with disc type detection: while MC with FMCB is inserted, I have to hold O to force PS1/DVD mode in order to boot PSX game or DVD movie. Same goes with PS2DVDV (ESR patched) games. All of those are detected as PlayStation2 blue disc, and when tried to run, keeps looping FMCB splash with black screen like console is trying to load disc data.
I've tried with both 1.8b and 1.8c (although this shouldn't be a problem AFAIK) and both with and without DVDELF injection applied.
Problem disappears if I remove MC with FMCB.

Is this the Mars Revolution modchip problem, or general v14+modchip+FMCB problem? I'd like to know that so I can decide should I buy Modbo 4.0 and swap, or not (I've never had such problems with Modbo+FMCB, but didn't have V14 before). I've tried searching but didn't find such problem.

If you have Matrix firmware, turn your chip off (turn ps2 off, press and hold on trigger "START" and turn ps2 on. "Disable" must come up...), cause itīs incompatible with FMCB.

Does that mean it's incompatible with FMCB in general, or it's incompatible with older (like v1.82) versions only? Would replacing it with newer chip or with newer firmware fix it?

I mean, why would it be incompatible, AFAIK MAtrix FW is one of the most common firmwares on modchips, especially on cheap Modbos, and I couldn't find this problem anywhere else.

generaly i read here that most have problems with chiped PS2 (not all)....
And i donīt know which chip is compatible or not....
e.g. I read an old post that one has an "crystal-chip" with working FMCB, but some days ago another has problem with it....
