64MB MC becomes 32MB MC after FMCB 1.6
64MB MC becomes 32MB MC after FMCB 1.6 –
I got a 64MB MC, after installing FMCB 1.6, the capacity dropped to just 32MB. I'm not sure how this happened, but I know for certain it worked fine with FCMB 1.4b(still 64MB). I didn't check the capacity after installing FMCB 1.5.
I have formatted it using FMCB 1.6/1.5/1.4b and AR max EVO. Is there anything I can do to regain the lost 32MB?
EDIT: Memory card is a Max Memory 64MB

MCKiller doesn't help either (note, that some people reported it makes these cards to 8MB )? I have written an application called "MCAnnihilator". It has bugs and is not yet completed, but will let you simply choose the size of MC to format (and many other things). It also has a nice GUI, so it's suited for noobs (but also works as cmd line version, if someone needs more control). The only drawback is, that it's completely polish language... so most likely not to understand by any non polish speaking people. But you might want to try it (see attachment).
I would recommend unformatting it first and then trying to format it in browser (Choose slot and then "Odformatowanie").
Eventually format it (choose slot, then "Formatowanie" and then the size of card - it should be autodetected, but if it's wrong, then just choose your 64MB). There are two ways of format (d-pad lef/right): "szybkie" (which means "Fast") and "pełne" (which means "full", much slower).
Two other options either create image of the card or write image to the MC. Both PS2MC and PSXMC are supported.
In many cases it will ask whether user wants to continue operation (all data will be lost, etc.). "Nie" means "No" (and is default answer, which will cancel operation and return to previous menu). "Tak" means "Yes" and will let you continue with the operation.
X - confirms,
Triangle - cancels, gos back one menu
D-Pad - obvious
Just give it a try. It may help. Just let me know if it did.
PS. There is a readme and detailed tutorial (see in readme for link), but it's polish only.
One more thing: it is PAL ONLY. It will of course work on NTSC consoles (well NTSC TVs to be exact, because the console region doesn't matter), but you'll either get "bouncing image" or black and white.

I got the bouncing image but all I had to do was keep pressing X then select 'Tak' when it appears. MCAnnihilator worked really well, there was no need to unformat or select the card size. Great application, the MC capacity returned to 64MB.
Not sure if this is a problem but the command line version doesn't work, nothing happened when I ran the ELF, just a black screen.
That is probably because that version is not intended for any user interface on the PS2, but is intended to be used over network with PS2Link running on the PS2 and launching "mca10_cmd_pl.elf" using ps2client on the PC. The output data of the program should then be displayed in a commandline window on the PC. Though I can't understand the polish text, I saw that it mentions "host" in a sentence dealing with the 'cmd' version, which probably referred to the 'host' interface used by PS2Link and ps2client.

Great to hear that it actually worked (this is main reason why it was created anyway - problem with other software and some non sony memory cards). Though, I'm not sure how will it behave if a card doesn't support ECC - I didn't implement it properly (I don't have any such card and I do not know anyone that has).
As for the cmd version. It doesn't implement any console of its own. So you simply have to use some other tool that will let you specify any params. I use ps2link/ps2client (with no iop reset option), but it also works fine with radshell (the output will be displayed on screen instead of standard printf).
To be true, international (english) PAL/NTSC version was planned, but I lost my motivation for this one.
Running the original RUNME.ELF that came with the Memory Plus 64MB card and using its Format option also would have restored the card to its normal 64MB too.
That can be found somewhere in the beginning of the thread.
SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded
Did some searching and found the link for the original RUNME.ELF that came with Memory Plus 64MB.
Memory Plus Loader probably only works for Memory Plus(mine = Max Memory) cards, but it's not necessary since FMCB works just as well. I'll try that the next time this happens again(hope I won't have to).
ffgriever's MCAnnihilator app is awesome! I was able to restore a 64MB card (looks like original Sony card) from 8MB to it's original 64MB using this program. I had to connect my PS2 to my PC through the video capture card and using a program called iuVCR to change the output to PAL mode in order to follow the directions provided above, but at least it works!
If anyone needs a step-by-step on how to get to a particular menu item and doesn't have any way to display a PAL signal, let me know and I'll provide the step-by-step instructions.
Hopefully ffgriever will someday release an English NTSC version (if he ever gets time), or perhaps release the source code for someone to work on it. Thanks a lot for this software!

With ffgriever's MCAnnihilator i was able to recover my friends dead MC, and MC's that was failing to store saves or saves that got corrupted after a game save, this problems is found on Clone / Chinese MC.
The program really is amazing, to bad people doesn't realize that, I'm still waiting ffgriever to send me over a text file to be translated to portuguese and he told me that an english / NTSC version was on the works.
I think people need to know more about this program, download and test.
This rescured a Datel 64MB card that was coming up as 128MB for some strange reason. Thanks!
