Use a USB HDD instead of a USB flash disk/pen drive.
USB HDDs are faster than USB flash disks/pen drives internally.

You might also want to check out PS2ESDL, since it was tuned for USB devices: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f19/play...ps2esdl-63375/

PS2ESDL v0.816 was released for testing, and is a pre-release of v0.820: http://psx-scene.com/forums/806836-post157.html (Playstation 2 External Storage Device games Loader (PS2ESDL))

It has about 10% better speed compared to v0.810, and had some fixes and upgrades.

New patches.ppi file (Patch database file) to add support for Rugby League 2: http://psx-scene.com/forums/807986-post166.html (Playstation 2 External Storage Device games Loader (PS2ESDL))
    Unmodified SCPH-77006 with SM 3.6
SCPH-39006 with M-chip modchip, SCPH-10281 NA and refurb Seagate 80GB HDD
SCPH-10000 v1.00 with SCPH-10190 PCMCIA NA and SCPH-20400 HDD unit
    PS2ESDL v0.823B

    Using a Y-cable is fine.
So far I have not heard of any HDD enclosures being incompatible with PS2ESDL yet.

If you are unsure, just avoid those that have cheap skate enclosures (Especially those with no brands).

    Multi-functional devices are not supported.
Please use a device that was designed to only function as a USB mass storage device and nothing else (In other words, use a USB HDD that only functions as a USB HDD).
