I'm running OPL 0.8 with an internal IDE HDD on a FAT PS2. I have uLaunchElf 4.42a.
When I go into the HDD0:+OPL/THM/thm_themename folder to paste theme files I've copied to the clipboard from the mass: drive (USB stick), it only pastes files correctly if they're smaller than 500 bytes. Any files greater than 500 bytes are pasted as empty (zero byte) files.
How do I properly create the theme files in the +OPL partition, instead of them being zero byte ?
I've tried other versions of uLaunchElf with the same result.
I donīt have a internal HDD, so i donīt can help you really, but have you try it to copy it directly from PC to PS2 over ftp??
ULE doesn't have a ftp transfer feature as far as i know

You just start it and you have ftp.....
You see in uLE main-screen on top your IP, Netmask, Gateway...
But you need a IPCONFIG.DAT (upper case) to configure the network of PS2. And then put it in "mc:/SYS-CONF/".....
The IPCONFIG.DAT must show this....
IP <space> Netmask <space> Gateway
e.g. 192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1
Thanks for the advice.
I've never used the network feature before. I transferred all my backups onto the HDD by taking it out of the PS2, physically connecting it to the PC (using an IDE to USB converter), then using WinHIIP 1.7.6. I also formatted the drive into PS2 format using WinHIIP (with the "HDLoader 48bit" format option). It's a 750 GB IDE HDD. The backups run fine, when launched from the OPL menu.
After reading your advice, I went to use the network feature. There was a sticker over the network port, saying don't connect a telephone line to it. I peeled off the sticker, and DAMMIT, there's no network port - just a hole in the circuit board where the network port is supposed to be, with 8 gold parallel vertical pins on the circuit board (located under the hole).
I've attached 3 photos below. They're not the best quality, I need a new camera. Hopefully you'll get the idea.
When I bought it off Ebay, the company advertised it as a "Genuine Sony PS2 network card". It even has the Sony logo. Alas, it appears to be a CCC (cheap Chinese clone), even though I paid over USD $50 for it.
Anyway, like I said, the backups run fine. That's the main thing. But it looks like I won't be using the network feature.
Any other suggestions, to properly copy the theme files to the +OPL partition ?
yes, it's a chinese clone, i have the same adapter. i don't know what to say, since i can copy shit with no problems to my HDD. my advice is to use a different version of ule, or another file manager (2 shitty ones -by today standards, that is- that can be used are MyPS2 and PS2OS, i think), but i may be talking shit, so try to disregard this post (IF YOU CAN -evil laughter-)
