Will pal games work on my ntsc ps2 with opl?
Will pal games work on my ntsc ps2 with opl? –
like the title says, will they work? will i need to patch them in advance? what if im using a tv that can display 60hrz anyway? any and all information about this would be great and thank you!
The protection is activated only when you play games from the disk...playing them from anywhere else(USB,HDD,ETH)is possible.
The only problem you could get is the game to be in black and white if your tv don't support the color mode.
thanks if i remember correctly most newer flatscreens will display properly correct?

I know i currently have two patched games on opl that work fine, but if i remember correctly patching some games can make them not work at all correct?
Patching games is not always possible or/and can give you unsatisfying results.
Also I'm just guessing since my tv and monitor both support any format(both of them are old)but there is OPL version that have GSM builded in it and from GSM you can choose the color mode
Also if that don't work or some game don't want to work if there is extra program running in the PS2 memory, and if your TV don't support the color mode, you can buy cheap some PAL <=> NTSC color converter and use it(I have one for my PS1...I needed it before I got a new tv)
the most important thing is HOW are you connecting to the TV? is it component?(5 leads RGB RW) or composite? ( 3 leads YRW) .

Just for future reference, old school CRT based TVs with just S-Video, try the GSM build of OPL before risking your PAL based ISOs to patching. In "Display Settings", enable GSM and set the mode to PAL-60hz. You PAL based game should load fine and in color (hopefully) on your NTSC PS2, but will be way off center. This is where IGR is gonna earn its battle stripes -- you'll need to tweak the horizontal and vertical values to center everything as much as possible via trial and error. You won't get perfect centering of course, but definitely playable ...
Another problem I (look like) found is freezing videos. I have a PAL console, with OPL running games from ETH, and got a problem with one game I tryed to play (SMT Lucifers Call PAL version - just bad image or game version), so I downloaded NTSC image, started new game and figured, that video freezes like hell, every second. Then I checked PAL version again - everything was fine. Then I compared Valkyrie Profile 2 PAL and NTSC versions and result was same - videos in NTSC game constantly freezes every second, but not so bad as in SMT. Converting from NTSC to PAL by special tools didn't fix that problem.
