ok does anyone know how to find a mac address for the wii usb lan adapter?
i found out that each lan adapter should have their own mac address:
Help! Wii won't recognize LAN adapter - Nintendo Wii Forum
i was thinking if we used this device for the ethernet support of the open ps2 loader then we could possibly skip using a pc and straight to the hdd?
but i don't even know if it will work!

Won't work the ps2 only supports ethernet through a proper ps2 network adaptor on fat ps2's or the intergrated network adaptor bulit into slims also the Wii has usb v2.0, ps2 only has usb v1.1.
There was one ps2 usb modem made by datel but very few games supported it not nearly enough users for the opl dev team to consider adding support for it anyway.

I think there is such a think as a lan hdd enclosure though which would possibly allow slim users to use a hdd without pc how it'd work i've no idea unless you just set it up the same a shared folder on your pc but with ip addresses and password.

yes i know the ps2 has x2 usb 1.1 but with the wii usb lan adapter you think i want to put it in my ps2's usb ports, thats not the case.
i want to use the wii lan adapter backwards
ps2's network apater <-------(ethernet/cat5)--------> (ethernet/cat5slot of wii usb lan adapter)--------(usb cable from the wii usb lan adapter)-----------------------> then this nice adapter which i got sitting in my usb adapter holderhttp://www.amazon.com/USB-Female-Mini-Male-Adapter/dp/B0016RNX2I/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_4 then to the back of my usb hard drive like so
what do you think would it work i bought a rocketfish wii lan adapter and i don't work with my wii but maybe some thing else like open ps2 loader?

No that piece of hardware is only for supplying a Wii with ethernet capailility via it's usb port it won't work in reverse and it certainly won't connect to a ps2's ethernet cable or a usb hdd and if you have a usb hdd why not just stick it directly into the usb port? granted it's slower than lan but what your wanting do is outright crazy, I suggest you get someone with more knowledge of landisk / lan hdd enclosures help you further if you have a slim ps2 and don't have / want a pc connected share.
