    Hi!

I've recently installed OPL v0.8 on my pstwo (slim version). I have a Matrix 1.99 modchip. I've tested to load some PS2 ISOs through the network. Some games (ICO, Mafia) have loaded successfully, but some others (Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Batman Begins, Capcom Classics Collection) have not. They hang on a white screen.

I've read in some forums that when a game shows a white screen when loading, it's because of a bad ripping.

I wanted to ask if UsbUtil is still needed when using OPL v0.8. I thought that it was not necessary, since it has the enhancement of loading ISO files. But I don't know if those games will work if I rip them using UsbUtil, or if I have to apply any other patch to them.

Any kind of help about this issue?

    Thanks in advance!

    Follow the guide:

    Official OPLv0.8 User Guides

Most probably a right problem (check each file rights), or a bad filename (bad extension case)

I don't know about the white screen but from my understanding USButil is not necessary for OPL 0.8 unless your image is going onto a fat32 formatted drive and it is larger than 4GB. As izdubar helpfully points out, this means that using USBUtil won't be necessary (since USB drives tend to be the only things that are formatted fat32).

Another thing to bear in mind is that just because we have a new version of OPL doesn't mean all games are suddenly compatible. It could be that those particular games don't work or need a compatibility mode.

You might find this link helpful
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/ope...-colors-64354/ (Open PS2 Loader Project - Debug Colors)
and also search this thread for issues with your games:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/ope...ibility-62463/ (Open PS2 Loader Game compatibility)

However, I thought you and others might like to know that you can test your images as both split format or iso by simply switching between the two (even after you have 'installed' them) Open USButil and locate your games directory and the config file ul.cfg. USBUtil will list the games and whether the image is 'ok'. If there is something wrong with the image then rip again. Use http://redump.org/discs/system/ps2/ to check the MD5 checksum of images. Now, with the split image you want to convert highlighted press the 'To iso' button at the bottom of USButil window and select DVD folder to put the iso into. It will take some time but you should get the iso back.

I tried this myself to test whether USBUtil was necessary with ZOE: Second Runner and Devil Summoner 2 (remembering to make two sub-folders named CD and DVD of course and putting them both inside DVD) and did not notice any performace difference. I left them as isos because it is more convenient than having to wait for USbUtil to install. Result = USButil not necessary for NTFS formatted drives.

    Regards

He's using SMB mode. So I guess he have a NTFS formated drive, so no need at all to split ISO, whatever size they have (could even be DVD9).

Of course you can still use ul format too if you really want (or if you are still using FAT32 ...).

So his problem is for sure individual access rights on files or bad filename (the extension must be ".iso", and the game_code in prefix should correspond to what is in the system.cnf in the ISO).

I can confirm Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance works OK in SMB, so perhaps your rip is bad. I dont have the other games you mentioned, but it might be a good idea to re-rip those as well.

    Hi again!!

I've checked the file permissions and names, as suggested by izdubar. The file names were OK, but not their codes. I just copied the same code that appears in the Cover Art Gallery, but my ISO had a different one (maybe it's the difference between PAL and NTSC regions). I've renamed the ISOs that were not working, and now they work!! I've tested about 15 games and all of them work!!

Thank you very much for all your help!!

If you read the guide, you will find a tool (iso2opl) that can rename automatically the iso for you, extracting the correct game code from the ISO itself, so no risk to mistake.
