Someone used the USB network adaptor (non sony network adaptor) for online game on 2002 already, by then sony still not yet released the network adaptor. So, it can be a replacement for sony network adaptor and run the SMB network games through Openusbld0.6. Is it possilble ? Furthermore, there is a cheap version with the same function ! It costs about US$3-4 here.

I have one exactly like the blue one on the second picture. But for those adapters to work on the PS2 a driver it will be needed and the ps2's usb are 1.1 version so the trasfer speeds will be no diferent from a pendrive or usb hdd.

If it needs a driver, it only needs to install on the PC side, and the people did not complaint the speed when they played the online games on 2002.

Can you try it if it is possible to run the SMB network games ?

Also, you can get this USB to IEEE1394 adaptor or cable very easy and cheap, and plug into the PS2's i-Link port with a USB 2.0 speed, so it worths to try the USB network adaptor.

The chances of those both working are slim to none...

No, if you're using USB, you'll need USB driver loaded on PS2.
So it will not work at all.

    Someone already used it :

and it can use the usbd.irx as the the USB driver in PS2 side. Anyway, I will buy the adaptor to try and report the result.

Did you at least read what I wrote ?
The IOP core will not work, it will get stucked on white after a Pink screen.

Doesn't matter someone already used it !!! it was not with Open PS2 Loader you see ?

I just don't understand people, they seem to think they know more then the developers.
