    \o Community.

Just got my ps2 memory card remodded again with FreeMCBoot.

Now, I'm playing Shadow Hearts 1 through Ethernet, but the FMV's are stuttering.......I've seen on a few lists that it is fully working via Ethernet, I'm using OPL 0.9, does it work on another version? Or shall I try a PAL version? (I have the original copy of the game, I know some games need PAL and some need NTSC).

If anyone else has it perfectly working, what are you doing right and what am I doing wrong? ;P

    Thanks for your help/input guys.

When using SMB/ETH , some games will have FMVs that won't stutter (i.e. Bink-encoded ones ala Soul Reaver/Legacy of Kain) and some games will stutter every 3 to 5 seconds because the FMVs are what I call "top-heavy" i.e. very detailed, cinema quality taking-hundreds-of-MBs-on-the-disc type of suckers. Those are more common on multi-disk games from Capcom, Square, Midway, but single disc games can have them as well such as Shadow Hearts 1, Valkyrie Profile 2, the Dynasty Warriors series. Your options are limited to basically tolerating such hiccups every 3 to 5 seconds or try eliminating the middle man (i.e. the router) by using a crossover Ethernet cable and see if they helps ...

Ah, sorry, forgot to mention I am using an Eth cable/cross over cable. So, shall I just break my back getting the disk out from the attic?

Yay! Another one with OCD as bad as my daughter!

However, I prefer to reason with her demon than feed it: are you investing time just play FMVs or play a game. I'm investing time and money to play a game; not an FMV. One is smoke, mirrors, and fluff; the other is substance. Of course, it wasn't always that way. Many Sega CD games were just over-glorified interactive movies with little to no game underneath them (*cough* Night Trap *wince*) although we might have believed they were the cat's ass at the time. We've came a long way since then. Not that her OCD demon would notice - she likes to say the same whenever I'm playing Xenosaga, Metal Gear, and many Square-Enix titles. That is until I remind the wench that if she can't stomach the occasional 10-20 minute distraction/annoyance surrounding a 40 to 80+ hour game (or *gasp* god forbid a slight skip from a less than perfect DVD or PS2 laser), she needs to find a new hobby.

    Preferably recreational lockjaw ...

Oh, and SP193 is gonna love this. She said to me two days ago while I handed her dinner, "I can't wait until OPL gets that new SMAP driver!"

Dripping with sarcasm, I replied. "Neither can I, but I'm still gonna take a carpet stapler to your lips just in case!"
