Hmm... you are using exactly the same router as I am. And I can barely get more than 1.00MB/s with OPL's HDL dump server.

Maybe the issue here is not with your PS3, but with your network.
I remember that this router I have originally had some issues with FTP (And hence maybe other protocols might not work well) before I updated it's firmware, so you might want to update the firmware just to keep the router as error-free as possible.
@dlanor: If the issue was caused by the that PS3 model lacking hardware emulation (E.g. hardware emulation for the IOP), won't DMA support help to lower the CPU load caused by SMB transfers?
I know that my DMA-enabled driver isn't perfect, but at least it can be used as a base for getting OPL full SMAP DMA support.
