    Hello everyone.

Im a internal HDD user, have an PS2 30001 FreeMC and OPL r399 from bitbucket.org/ifcaro/open-ps2-loader/

    my pc config
Windows XP PRO SP2 / Kubuntu 9.10 dualboot
    IP 172.16.1.38
    MASK 255.255.0.0
    GW 172.16.0.1
    shared folder: c:\cuyo01
    resource name: cuyo01

    PS2 config
    IP 172.16.1.69
    MASK 255.255.0.0
    GW 172.16.0.1
    PORT 445
    Share: cuyo01
    User: GUEST
    Password: N/A

The problem is that all my games stutters in the FMV's when played from LAN, sometimes the games freezes with the sound frozen but in the official OPL 0.7 release the playback is flawless; dont know if the developers are aware of this; I used the file split USBUtil format and the ISO format and is the same. Tested in Win XP

Then I tried to test to share in Kubuntu, mounted the win partition and shared the cuyo01 folder then start OPL, I can read the file list of games but the game crash with a white screen of death after a yellow one. I tried different configurations in samba (security = share, security = user) with its respective password in OPL but always get a WSOD.

I was using the ISO format but then renamed the subfolders CD and DVD and installed games in USBUtil format, now i can run the games but the stuttering is worse in kubuntu.

Anyone has the same problems as me?

Note: I tried some earlier versions of OPL and one works flawlessly but not remember wich version was (r37x I think), I can test the revs from 330 to date if required.

I am having very similar problems myself, fmv stuttering, sound dropouts & game freezes. I have tried everything to fix it short of buying a new router which I can't afford anyway. Have tried different methods of compiling, different operating systems, resetting router, creating new accounts on the PC specifically for OPL to use and it's all failed. Like you, it was fine in earlier releases so i'm also unsure of the problem but I hope you can get it fixed as it might give me some idea's to try other than what I already have.

Then it most likely proves a problem on your setup...

BTW, after many tests (PS2 attached to router, PS2 attached to PC, original Samba socket config, etc...), I still unable to reproduce the problem here.
And the revision you pointed to be the guilty (r357) doesn't contain any change to Network...

So first of all, if you really want some help, you should really identify the revision which started to cause the problem (if you were saying r359 causes the problem, I would find it obvious, but that's not the case with r357).
After that I may be able to figure out what changes caused the problem on your side, but it's not something I can guess.

And I'd like you both confirm what specific revision started to mess up things for you.

    I found something interesting.

First more data, I use a modem 2WIRE 1800HW, it has 4 LAN outputs, in my house are 3 PCs including mine two of them are directly connected to the modem, the modem is in other room of the house so to conect mi PS2 I used a switch in the cable that goes to my room, I put the internet cable in port 1, the PC cable in port 2 and the PS2 cable in port 3 of the switch.

Then noticed that every time the FMVs stutters the indicator LED in the switch for port 1 (the one that goes to the modem) flashed, every time it flashed the FMVs of the games stutters, I disconnected the cable in port 1 leaving only the PC and the PS2 in the switch then the FMVs runs flawlessly, no problem.

I have an old LAN cable long enough to reach the modem so i connected the PS2 directly to the modem, do the same with my PC so used the four ports of the modem to test if was the switch fault but again the FMVs of the games stutters, since there are other PCs in my house I cant do other test like disconnect other PCs and the internet cable in the modem, maybe i can test later.

This issue is strange but with the official 0.7 release dont have that problem, maybe the 2WIRE 1800HW is not 100% compatible with latests revs of OPL?

Edit: seems like besides nemesis01 and me nobody has this problem.

You should both try r403 to confirm if the problem is really fixed or not.

    jimmikaelkael scores again!.

At least for me the stuttering is gone, i was playing with the config of the router, asigned static IP to my PC, open port 445 too, messed with MTU in windows, putting my PC in DMZ mode, and nothing seemed to work.

Tested r403 and it worked, it have some minor skips in the FMVs for some games but some earlier revs do the same including the official 0.7 release so it could be considered normal (i think something related to the bitrate of the FMVs), also no more freezes.

    Thanks jimmi

on a unrelated note: I cant run the games in ISO format in kubuntu but the same files works well on windows, im missing something but dont know what it could be, give permisson to the files (sharesamba), OPL can list the games but hangs on a white screen.

    Do a wireshark capture.

May be related to the case sensitive. Check in first priority your iso files extension, it must be .iso lowercase.
