Ok. Well i got .8 working. I launch OPL from my memory card.

It has been brought to my attention by Sucker Punch that there is a certain
glitch in the game that happens because of certain memory cards or gameshark
devices messing the game up.

"The problem surfaces when the user has some non-authorized  memory cards, or
some utilities like the Gameshark installed.  Here's what we do know:

 1.  The problem manifests itself as an inability to use the circle button to
grab ladders, hooks, pipes, etc.  In addition, you seem to lose a key from your
total--meaning you won't be able to open a particular lock when you should be
able to.  Most often these problems will be seen in the first level of
Raleigh's World, and people have complained they cannot grab the hook before
going over the gate, or that they cannot open the gate at the end of the level.

 2.  In all cases we've investigated thus far, removing the additional
accessory has returned the game to normal.  Note that three Sly Cooper save
games fit into 59K of memory, so the save game will consume just a tiny
fraction of any PS2 memory card."

Now. How am i supposed to do this when i have no DVD in the drive. Only a ps2 memory card (With MCBOOT on it) and it launches from it.

Im using SMB method. I have the original copy of sly cooper on DVD. but my ps2 can't read the dvd. Only the magicswap DVD. So i changed it up to load off the memory card and have no extra stuff. I dont know what else to try.

I ripped it from the dvd and converted it to the ul format. Im gonna try loading opl. Then removing the memory card and launching the game but i tried a lot of stuff and it just wont work.

I don't know what it is, but just posting here seems to solve my problem. I turned on modes 2 6 7 8 i think. I also removed the memory card until i was at the load menu. So it worked flawlessly.
No disc, no USB, just memory card and controller and ethernet.

Well, now its not working again.... I don't understand. IT seems to work when it wants to.

Ok. The game is in .ul format and is run via SMB with OPL .8

There is a problem with the game where unauthorized stuff like gameshark screws up the actions. But its happening to me with my memory card or anything thats plugged in. It works randomly and stops randomly.

I need to know how to work around this.

I had this glitch before just disable IGR and enable mode 3 that should do the trick
I'm not 100% sure as I don't have my ps2 with me at the moment

this happens because OPL tampers with the ram in a similar way as the gameshark does (but with completely different purposes, that is)

There's a possibility that it's not an glitch or bug, more like TROLLING from the game programmers. The game detects tampering and makes your play quite unpleasant. It's a common technique for copy protection on European (But yeah Sucker Punch is American lol) made computer games.

I'm not surprised, considering that the Sly Copper series used to be troublesome for HD Loader (lol).

i finished the whole game. I managed to get it working with some tweaking.
